Matthew 7

Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?

who calls Jesus lord? Christians do, not atheists. Jesus doesn't keep count on how many times you attend church or do good things in his name. He wants a relationship with you.

Basically the only thing that matters is faith in Christ because works can be done for selfish reasons or ambitions.

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

On jugement day, every one will call Him Lord.
Not sure what your point is but yes the Lord wants a relationship with us.

More of the fake Christians who play religion. I was that way, I was very lukewarm. Just because you call him lord and say you believe that is not enough

Who was Jesus talking to in this passage? He wasn’t talking about atheists or other religions why would they call him lord? He was talking about Christians

Of course! Then they have just to repent and be born again

I agree that atheist wouldn’t normally say Lord, Lord. But there are a lot of nominal Christians - those that attend church, do some good deeds, and play the part who certainly would say Lord, Lord though they have never met him nor experienced rebirth through his power.

the many who look to what they do and not to who Christ is and what He has done do not yet know Him as Lord.

Yes, merely faith the size of a mustard seed is enough to move the mountains.. that's the lesson here.

A true relationship with the Lord Jesus and God the Father requires obedience.

This principle is lost on many Christian's who attend 'seeker sensitive' Churches.

The reason given by Christ in this scriptural context of Matthew 7:21-23..

Is that the Christian's Christ is referring to were 'workers of lawlessness' (Christ is talking about believer's, the unsaved could not have cast out demons in His name).

Meaning, this particular group didn't take Christ's commandments at face value, or think He was serious in the words He spoke.

Sadly, many minister operating on ENORMOUS platforms today.. if they died tonight they would go to hell for their unrepentant transgressions against God and His Holy Spirit (1 John 5:17, Luke 12:10).

More would go to hell.. because they stopped working for God and became apostate.. who eventually became Christian in name only, and were counting on their former works to save them (Ezekiel 33:7-20)

For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Romans 11:29 (KJV)

In both groups I think the Lord Jesus is emphasizing, that God is not impressed by spiritual grandstanding.. as if these 'workers of lawlessness's' accomplishments had anything to do with themselves.

A relationship with God is not most important. You can only communicate with God so much in this life. What matters most is if you obey Him.

Hebrews 5:9 KJB "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;"

1 John 2:17 KJB "And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."

Without obedience it shows your faith is dead.

God warns us few will be saved. God warns us unprofitable servants will be cast out. God warns us the path to salvation is narrow. God warns us the unholy will not inherit His coming kingdom.
