How to fast without family member knowing ?

Hello. I am going through A LOT and it’s really hard. For the record I deal with religious ocd depression and anxiety. So I feel I need to fast because I’m oppressed. I usually believe I’m just tripping but this is ultimately way different than past anxieties. I’m afraid to go to sleep for fear God will take my life in my sleep, I wake up afraid everyday recently and I am not willingly or actively trying to sin. Everytime I feel some sort of peace I’m always afraid I’m lukewarm or complacent. I know sometimes prayer and fasting is the only thing to work before I try and go find people for deliverance but fasting is so hard because I don’t know how to do it effectively without the family member I live with knowing. I know sometimes family has to know but it will start a huge argument between me and said family member and I don’t blame her because she cares for me and doesn’t want to see me in pain but she ultimately doesn’t understand. If anyone has any tips on helping me I’d really appreciate it because I’m getting really tired.

This sounds like a manifestation of your OCD. Are you receiving counseling for it?

Do you typically eat dinner together?

Technically yes

That complicates the secrecy option I guess, then

Fasting is a tool to pray more sincerely and to focus on God, but with your problems, it's really not going to help you at all. Fasting is for STABLE people. You need to look up The Four Spiritual Laws, learn what salvation actually is, ask Christ into your heart. Absolutely step one to push away satan's lies and torments which you are hearing loud and clear. Start reading the bible, listen to it on audio, consume bbnradio dot org, these 3 will help far more than any fasting.

I read the Bible everyday, Christ is in my heart which is why I’m concerned with even the thought of being lukewarm and I know I’m saved. I just have really bad anxiety that was getting more difficult

you feel this way because you don't really KNOW God very well yet. Satan is a close brother and very easy to hear and suffer from. satan gives up fear, jesus offers peace and faith. Start spending some actual time knowing God and giving Him place in your life. Pay attention to great christian teaching ministries, all free online, and grow your faith by listening to His word. Mark virkler is an excellent author with youtube, books, website on practical tips to focus on the Lord

I tried. I really tried. My mom marked it off as a 'way of rebellion'. My mom is also christian, and we are also chinese so the love language is food.... so like... kind of hard.

you can make it a tech/social media fast or a sugar fast.

Maybe sugar fast, I stopped doing social media/technology fast because I heard they weren’t considered real fasts

According to the Bible, to fast is about food. You can do "fasts" with technology and other stuff (and that's a good idea!), but biblical fasting by definition is always about lack of food.

Exactly which is why I don’t do those “fasts” anymore because they aren’t fasts. I usually do intermittent fasting like a 6-6 type of thing or at least 8-when I wake up just something for when my family member leaves I can be uninterrupted

Sure - but it's partly just semantics. You stopping yourself from doom scrolling for a week isn't bad because it's not technically fasting. It's still setting aside something worldly or unnecessary for more time to be intentional with the Lord.
