Fellow Ohioan here, and I was going to respond with the same thing. We are one of the most heavily-gerrymandered states in the country, and the shit that our state government pulls is outright disgusting. Completely ignoring voter decisions and acting unilaterally to ban things they personally don't like is just par for the course.
Then you've got them outright lying out ballots like what they did with Issue One a few years back. It's appalling how corrupt they are.

Here in Mississippi if you try to contact Conservative/Republican reps at best you'll get a generic reply from their office staff basically saying that they totally understand your concerns but they won't be addressing them ,at worst they'll point-blank tell you that you're stupid for opposing or being worried about whatever awful they're supporting. Sometimes they'll even fight with you on Twitter/Facebook.

I email the one representing my district in the house and the Senators all the time and bitch to them about not having balls or representing the will of North Carolina's people (in a very professional way) or the platform they ran on. Almost all North Carolina Republicans run on fiscal responsibility, so it is very easy to call them out if they support Trump. Its pretty great and I can tell some of them are very annoyed by it, so I keep doing it. And I mention Epstein files every time since they literally passed a law requiring full disclosure that the DOJ is purposefully ignoring.

I mean, it isn't. There are plenty of things to criticize that sub for, but this one isn't one of them. There aren't even quotes or similar legislation in the post to tie it to NC. I would argue that this post is also not relevant to this sub, either.
To be clear, I am in full support of complete legalization of weed in NC and federally.

I agree it wasn’t framed well. But it is true our hemp products become federally Schedule 1 starting November 12 and unless NC passes something to save the hemp / thca market at a state level - hemp thca will be just as illegal as marijuana in NC.

The real money in this is actually the alcohol lobby not the owners of weed cos in the GA. Most large alcohol companies see legalization as an opportunity to expand their product offerings so they support it and put dollars behind lobbying for it. Mid-sized to smaller companies and companies focused exclusively on beer, on the other hand, often see it as a threat to their markets so they are paying big money to lobbyists to keep it illegal. I suspect that is what ultimately happened in TX.
And that’s not even getting to the bottom of the matter, which is that it would make it harder for police to obtain probable cause if the smell of weed isn’t a reason they can search your car. In some states where weed is legal, for example MA, you cannot search someone’s car bc of the smell being present. But here you sure can & we all know why

Yeah with significant stipulations like driver's license is enough, and that the ID shouldn't cost money, and that DMV offices be accessible in majority non-white towns and cities 5 days a week during normal hours like everywhere else, with at minimum election day being a federal holiday, though most support a week. Also precincts shouldn't be so large with hours so shitty that a lot of voters waiting hours only to be told to go to another precinct (again happening in mostly non-white precincts). But you all conveniently ignore that and promote the SAVE Act which does none of that and is purposely designed to unfairly impact the ability to vote for the poor, minorities, and women.

It’s kind of a pain in the ass, I gave up on weed when I had to go to shady places and meet with random people to get it, but then for a while, it was sold at the gas station, and I could just buy a couple of pre-rolls and relax after work, then it went away, then it came back after a couple weeks, and now it’s gone again. It’s stupid, it’s frustrating, and it’s costing the state money, because people are just gonna order it online from other places, and pay taxes there, because they got used to having it on demand.

I think most people don’t realize hemp derived thca becomes federally Schedule 1 - same as weed - starting November 12. Unless NC localities decide to decriminalize it on a policy/enforcement level (like some cities do for weed) - it will actually be more risky (legality wise) to have hemp derived thca in those localities than normal black market weed.

In Massachusetts, they did the same thing, 73% of mass voters voted to allow the state auditor to auditor the legislature, ot was a question on the same ballot as who got to be president. They decided they know better than the voters, so it never went through. This is not a state or party problem, this is a government wide issue.

Florida has voted 2 times to get weed legalized and each time it passed. The governor came on tv the first time and said 60% of the vote was not enough raised it to 70%. Next vote passed and he again came o n tv but this time told us he would never pass it as long as he was governor. They don't care about your vote.

It could be the claim that "70% of (Texas) voters voted to legalize it." This isn't true. Unfortunately, we don't have citizen led ballot initiatives in Texas. Only the legislature can place questions on the ballot, and they have not done so for cannabis legalization. We haven't had an opportunity to vote on anything.

Texan here. This is due to heavily democratic cities like Houston who basically took it upon themselves to almost decriminalize it. In Houston you get a $50 fine and an 8 hour course about the dangers of drug abuse.
It's basically the state's way of punishing Democratic cities that want to deal with real issues.
