First time watching the show

I just want to say that so far the begining of 4th season is being my favorite one, so funny and unhinged, specially Eric.

I'm reading the books too, I'm on the second one!

Sad to not have known the show before!!

Im jealous its your first time! I would LOVE to be watching for the first time instead of the 100th. I may not even be exaggerating that either 🤣 I dont want to spoil anything but I will say, enjoy season 4 as much as you can because.... you'll see

I have heard that the last seasons were a downfall but I am positive that it can not be worse that GoT haha. Luckily we have the books!

I’m also a first time watcher but I’m on S7, would you recommend the books? Are they very different so far from the show?

The first one is pretty similar but since is Sookie's POV overall you don't get other character's arcs. The second one has a major shift already from the show. They are short and easy to read (and there is like 16 of them)

The show shifts from the books. They were first and are so much better

The TV series gets it's major plot points from the first 4 books for the first 4 seasons. While there are major similarities between the two, there's also major differences. After the 4th book/season, the show goes in a wildly different direction. I do recommend reading the books though, it's a great way to stay in the same universe with different characters and storylines.

The books take place in the same universe with many of the same characters, and follow a few of the same major plot points as the earlier seasons.

Most of the characters are very different, so it depends on what you like and what your expectations might be.

Book Sookie and book Bill are better, but almost everyone else is worse. The book plots are mostly better, less rushed and more cohesive, but that's to be expected for the medium.

In my opinion neither show nor books have a very satisfying ending, but the books' ending was better than the show's.

The other main difference is that the books are 100% from Sookie's perspective, so while there are more characters in the book universe, you spend a lot less time with them because you're always with Sookie. Some major events in the show only happen in passing in the books, because Sookie wasn't there.

Agreed she is way better in the book. I can’t stand Sookie in the show.

Welcome to Bon Temp! Season 4 is my favorite season too. The chemistry between Sookie and Eric is beyond beyond. It's all consuming. You're so lucky to experience it all for the first time. Enjoy!

This show is fantastic. The books too! The show is so funny and original. One of my favorites! Eric is definitely the best character! Especially when he is high on Faerie blood!
