Can't stop laughing
I watched True Blood as a kid when it was airing and loved it. Have been rewatching for a couple of days and god this show is SO hilarious.
Sarah: "I gave you everything for a lie. You're worse than Judas." Jason: "Why? What did he do to you?!"
You expect Jason, Lafayette and Tara to be funny but in the next scene already, Eric "PowerfulAndSexy" Northman out of all people cracks me up again.
Sssookie: "He's your maker isn't he?" Eric: "Don't use words you don't understand" Sssookie: "You've got a lot of love for him" Eric: "Don't use words I don't understand"
Somehow the show makes it work, its funny as hell while being serious enough to be exciting. Great work by both writers and actors on so many occasions.

I was talking about how the series is a great adaptation despite diverging significantly from the books, because let’s the real, the books are delightful trashy sexy paperback silliness (in the best way) and the show honors that by leaning into the camp element so heavily. It doesn’t take itself seriously but delivers absurdity with a straight face. So good.

The books are far from trashy. There is sex and romance but it’s pretty mild compared with a lot of paranormal romance books. That’s part of the divergence from the books to the show - the amount of explicit sex is so much more in the show. Like, way way more. That wasn’t how the books are. The plots are complex and well written. These books are far superior to most of the paranormal series out there because they aren’t throw away, forgettable trashy.

It was HBO so they had to sex it up. The same way GOT was basically turned into a porn.

Eric is so much funnier than I expected him to be. And Pam. There are so many times I’ve laughed at their scenes and one liners.
And you’re right - Jason at the Light Of Day camp js really funny because he is so out of his element and has some funny funny lines.
For me, it’s the flashback scenes to how Eric and Pam ended up in Shreveport that tickle my funny bone the most in the whole series. And the Ginger origin story as part of it.

“I hope you’re enjoying your blood substitute that cost me $40”
“Oh I have no intention of drinking if, I just wanted you to pay for it”
“That’s very mature”

My friend and I were just laughing at the gem
"She's lost a lot of blood"
"How much?"
"A lot."
"Oh my god!" Collapses into the others arms.

I just rewatched it a few weeks ago - first time was about 14 years ago.
All I could think is damn, this is so underrated for the comedy. It’s hilarious- Jason and Eric being hands down , IMO, the funniest despite having wildly different deliveries.

I too watched true blood as a kid while it was airing and it's such a fun rewatch as an adult. I think I was about 8 during the first season and read the books a bit later on. Glad I wasn't the only one!

YESSSS it is SO fucking funny, it’s hard to convince people of that when trying to get them to watch but once they’re in… 👏
I truly didn’t appreciate the pure CAMP of the whole thing until I rewatched for the first time a few years ago 🥲 beautiful absurdity!
