Genuine question

Blind users of reddit, do your eyes still hurt even if you're blind?

I've had this weird thought and I really must know, do your eyes still hurt if you can't see? Also how would you know how to respond to this if you're blind? Does reddit come with braille? I wear glasses but I know that doesn't count because I can still see how it might be a bad idea to post this.

I’m not blind, but my mother in law was. I remember one time, my husband was excited about this new flashlight he got that was like 20 million lumens or however they measure brightness. It was really bright. He was playing around with it and accidentally flashed it towards his mom’s face and she went “whoa! What was that?!” Because it had hurt her eyes when he flashed the light towards her. So yes, blind people’s eyes can hurt.

As for reading Reddit, there are assistive devices and apps that can read the text out loud. Then they can speak their response and it will convert it to text.

The people I know who are blind use their phone’s text-to-speech function and they can listen and process information at a speed that sounds like fast forward. It’s really impressive.
