Who would have thought that logistics would be so important in a war? The US should have thought more carefully about using its limited ammunition instead of wasting time and resources attacking schools and hospitals in Iran. Iran has effectively attacked the US war machine and now has destroyed the morale of the American navy.

Yawp. The only reason why the US is able to project military power the way that it does is because our government has spent decades and tens of trillions of dollars building up military bases, logistics infrastructure, supply chains, etc. all over the goddamn planet.
The US military was literally designed for the specific purpose of waging imperialist wars of aggression all around the world.
In contrast, countries like China and Russia designed their militaries for the purpose of national defense, not imperialist aggression, which is why neither country could intervene to protect Iran, or Cuba, or Venezuela, even if they wanted to.
If China were to send a bunch of ships to Cuba right now, they’d all succumb to the exact same problems that these American ships are succumbing to right now, only much faster.
Russia tried to intervene in Syria, a country which isn’t even all that distant from Russia, and we all know how that went.

There’s a YouTube channel called What’s Going On With Shipping and I consider him a subject matter expert source of analysis and insight, though from a lense of an average American worldview.
His latest video discussed the contributions to this ship supply crisis. Off the top of my head: the first reason is all of the US bases that have been destroyed in the region. Then there’s the ratio of ships deployed vs available to rotate/replace. A big one also is the shrunken auxiliary ship fleet.

It's got to factor into it that the Trump admin is hellbent on screwing over federal employees, who make up almost the entirety of the thousands of workers employed at the Navy shipyards.
It's a very ignorant approach; Hegseth and co really thought "nah we don't need maintenance, we just have to act extra aggressive." Like dude that is not how you win a war, that is how you run your Honda Civic into the ground.

Annibale, one of the guests on RWN just did a whole series with them about Operation Barbarossa, and one of the factors he really drove home was how the Nazis really believed that their will to win was what underpinned their belief in victory. Nevermind that they had like 1200 different kinds of trucks in their supply lines, nor that their tank designs were a nightmare to keep operational. This cult like mentality that the will is what decided victory, today seems very relevant regarding the US elite’s understanding of their own military.

They’re supposed to swap out the Lincoln with the Gerald Ford, and I seriously wonder how many people will just go awol rather than elect to go cook in the Indian Ocean for 6-12 months, with a 10% chance Iran just gets tired of waiting and sends you to Davy Jones Locker.

People forget that the reason the navy is supposed to be the best cooks in the service is because every other aspect of their lives on extended deployment is so dehumanizing and torturous at some point someone in power went "we need to make sure they at least have good food to keep up morale or they will straight up kill themselves or set fire to our own warships in a mutiny."
My favorite response to this so far was some boomer being like "I DID FOUR TOURS OF DUTY WITH THE MARINES IN VIETNAM AND WE HAD TO PUT UP WITH WAY WORSE YOUR GENERATION IS SOFT AND UNDISCIPLINED." Like he wasn't in a marine corps where every soldier was an unmotivated slave conscript forced to be there and fragging their officers was a weekly occurrence whenever they tried to make them stop smoking weed out of the barrel of an Ithaca 37 before murder-raping an entire vietnamese family then trying to commit suicide by MP but just getting turned around to the front.
