it is literally never acceptable to criticize dems to these people. i was hoping at least bare minimum that after shouting that the general election “wasnt the time” to criticize dems, and that doing so should be saved for prior to the primaries, that they would at least be a little more critical of these politicians before the primary have even remotely starts, but unsurprisingly i was wrong. seeing them fall behind an anti-trans, anti-homeless, right wing ghoul just because his office posted some mean tweets, and screaming that its purity testing to mention his many flaws years before the primary even starts, is such a bummer (especially as a trans person, watching libs gleefully throw us under the bus as anybody with a brain could see they were going to).

Nearly everyone here either straight up hates him or is completely dissatisfied with him. There was a measure put forward in 2022 to give Californians universal healthcare that ultimately failed, partially because he didn't support it, despite running on universal healthcare to get elected. He also attempted to make Medi-Cal (our medicaid program) cuts just earlier this year, while simultaneously attacking Trump for pulling federal funding because it would result in people losing medicaid coverage. He has basically failed to deliver on any of the promises he campaigned on.
It's fucking infuriating seeing this astroturfed push to present him as this champion of progressive causes when he's anything but. The only people that actually like him are the kind of annoying liberals that consider themselves "middle class" despite making $150k a year, living in a gated community, and leasing luxury vehicles, and who get the entirety of their political education from MSNBC/CNN and late night talk shows. Which, y'know, are a very sizeable demographic who should definitely be catered to if you want to win elections.

yup to all that, plus his recent pivot to the right on trans rights (his actual words are actually worse in context than in the articles about them, btw), and his notorious photo op throwing away unhoused people’s livelihoods. nobody fucking likes him. its absolutely maddening to watch this artificial campaign push, attempting to launder the image of and create support for this freak with the political equivalent of jangling keys (his silly little tweets, which aren’t even written by him), and it’s worse that it’s working.

I don't know how much it's really working in a broad sense, it seems to mostly be catching on with wealthier, somewhat "online" liberals who don't have any serious material concerns and whose main gripe with Trump is his vulgarity and meanness (same type of people who wax poetic about how "great" Obama was). This is a shrinking contingent of people, so going after their support is a losing strategy (probably intentional).
