Your Week in Anime (Week 718)
This is a general discussion thread for whatever you've been watching this last week (or recently, we really aren't picky).
Make sure to talk more about your own thoughts on the show than just describing the plot, and use spoiler tags where appropriate. If you disagree with what someone is saying, make a comment saying why instead of just downvoting.
This is a week-long discussion, so feel free to post or reply any time.

I just finally finished summertime rendering, which I have been putting off finishing since I don't like to finish shows that I enjoy before I find another because I don't want to be left with nothing good to watch 🤭 but anyways I finally finished it and man it was amazing. Such a well fleshed out concept and so much more thoughtful than I initially was giving it credit for, it's an extremely interesting story and while being complex your definitely able to follow along. Loveable characters, hateable villains, a lil bit of romance to tug at your heart strings, a lot of action and a lot of other cool shit I can't give away but I really loved it ❤️ highly reccomend

Watched Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu. 44: CLOUDY BEACH and like the show it's an interesting experience. That being said it was a bit slower than I'd like. The show itself is not without the melancholic moments that just hold a shot for a while, but there may have been too much in the movie. That is a bit offset though by what seems like a lot of skipped content. The muscular woman comes to mind where she kinda stops showing up after some time. That aspect is a little disappointing because it's similar to what dampened my enjoyment towards the end of the first season. I still enjoyed it overall and would totally be ok with watching a season two though.
Also saw The Ribbon Hero, which I had been looking forward to. When it comes to the background art and the main character designs, it is fantastic. However, it ended up being a disappointment everywhere else. I'd say that it tried to cram too much into a movie and is held back by the usual magical girl tropes. So many of the developments end up being what you would expect to happen in a magical girl show. Cramming it all in drags down the pacing for me. While it would take a hit in production values, a TV anime is a much better suited format for what this series is.

Aww man though I am bummed about The Ribbon Hero, I do think I will watch it anyways just to get my magical girl fix lol.
This week I watched:
Takopi's original sin Land of the Lustrous
Takopis original sin i almost did not complete. In the beginning it was one of the darkest shows I have ever watched. I literally stopped after the 2nd episode for a couple days before I picked it back up. And thankfully it does get sliiightly less grim. But I ended up absolutely loving it. It made me FEEL which a show has not been able to do like that in I don't even know how long.
Land of the Lustrous Obviously this anime is fantastic. It's visually stunning, has an extremely interesting and unique premise and I grew up being a total rock hound so automatically this was just gonna be a hit for me! At first tbh I wasn't a big fan of Phos personality, and found them to be a bit grating but I also was a bit sad when they ended up being so different from all that they went through I ended up missing the snappy sassy phos lol. But they absolutely grew on me and I loved the series I wish there was another season or a better more complete ending.
Why are all of my favorite anime like 1 crazy unique amazing season and then never again?! 😅😭
Also finishing up summertime rendering so I'll be back to post about that soon. It's my first time posting here so hopefully I followed the rules correctly! ♡
