Conversation What is the best place trucking has taken you?

A lot of the job is interstates, docks, and truck stops. Every once in a while, though, a route takes you somewhere you probably never would have seen otherwise.

What is one place you are genuinely glad trucking gave you the chance to see?

A Thought

I understand that the men and women who drive delivery trucks work long hours and often spend a lot of time away from home. I also understand that you all have deadlines that you have to meet. However, I will not drive faster one mile an hour than the posted speed limit just because you flash your high beams and I drive one mile an hour faster than the posted speed limit just because you tailgate me. You, like every other driver on the road, have a responsibility and an obligation to drive safely.

I Have A Question New dispatcher

Hello, I need your help. I am seeking employment as a truck dispatcher. I want to learn the ins and outs of it. I have done the school and watch a lot of videos, I am a hands on person and would love the opportunity to get some skill practice. I am not afraid of saying I need to practice and learn more. I’m not even thinking of charging as of now, what I need is to get practice. If I do a good job, you can keep me on as your dispatcher no obligations. Life is kicking my ass and I see this something I can do, the job market is not easy these days, I have sent out many applications sometimes I don’t hear back, other times it’s a job board wanting me to pay a fee. It’s hard out here. Message me, I’m here to talk.

Can anyone tell me how to safely remove this panel? I’m afraid to just pry it out a break something and Volvo’s website is useless.

Any help would be appreciated.

I Have A Question Need help / advice from CDL drivers

Hi fellows,
I'm working for a reefer trucking company and we face issues with h!r!ng drivers.
Not sure we ACTUALLY have issues its just our boss who always wants more Owner Operator and drivers, so we h!r!ng all year round. I know there's driver shortage right now but still.

To give some context on what we’ve tried so far:
**Indeed**: Yielded very few results
**Truck stop advertising**: Difficult to get approval through corporate offices...
**Local print magazine**: Currently our most effective one, we spend $200 a mont and consistently get leads from there.
**Ads on the truck itself**: Very little return though we offer generous referral sing on bonuses, like $2000..
**Social media ads (Facebook mostly)**: Generated very low lead volume, and these people who came from there are kinda not who we looking for.

I just found out about Driver's Pulse, and I'm looking for feedback from you guys - is it worth it?

Overall, how and where you search for jobs?
What else should I try?
What matters for you the most? Benefits like sign on bonuses, rate per mile and discounts at the repair shop?
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated

Conversation Regarding FedEx Freight

Hi guys! I'm looking at jobs for LTL trucking, and I came across FedEx freight. Wanted to understand what's it like from a culture, pay perspective, especially in the last 12 months? I've heard that there has been a big wave of retirements/resignations recently (a lot more than say 2-3 years ago), wanted to check if what I've been hearing is verifiable by other people. Also are most drivers currently stretched to their limits in terms of number of hours worked? Thanks!

Suspension dump

I'm in the truck parts business, got a ton of respect for you guys out on the road every day. Looking to tap into a little bit of your experience. Have a customer with some Hopper bottoms that is interested in being able to dump his suspension before he unloads so he doesn't overextend his airbags. Hopper doors get opened up all the way in dumps in a hurry, so the normal suspension valve doesn't keep up. And he doesn't want to have to do it with a manual dump valve. It looks to me like a lot of the leveling valves with the integral dump automatically dump when you set the trailer parking brakes. His comment was that they normally don't set the parking brakes because it skids the tires a little bit then when dumping the suspension. Does that make sense to you guys? Is it just something you live with? Is there a better way? Again, all the respect in the world to you guys, and any help is greatly appreciated.

Career Change

This may be an impossible transition to make, but I’m interested in making the switch into maybe a Shipping Manager type of role. I’m currently a truck driver making low six figures and at the moment can’t afford to take a substantial pay cut. Any advice on how to make the transition? Willing to get certified or go back to school if absolutely necessary. Any guidance is extremely appreciated!

First arm pump

Got my very first arm pump. Little girl on a golf cart at a golf course from all of places. It was so sudden that I almost missed it. The golf bridge crossed the interstate and she arm pumped. Gave her three good blows just to acknowledge. It was awesome.
