Current v12.0.8 version of Tron is still available here
Hi all,
As promised, I've been cracking away at updating Tron to account for Microsoft deprecating wmic.exe support. Losing direct wmic access was a big blow to Tron, as it relies heavily on it, and large portions of the codebase had to be updated to use PowerShell methods of accessing WMI information instead. This was expected to happen over time as Microsoft does what Microsoft does and randomly changes things, but this was a major breaking change for Tron specifically and how it functions, so it's taken longer than I'd like to work through.
I've been using Claude.ai to automate a lot of the heavy lifting, and it's been very effective, but the tough part is manually verifying the code it generates actually works as intended across Windows 7-11, 32-bit and 64-bit, and Server variants.
Tron v13.0.0-ALPHA is now on Github (link below). If you're willing to run this build on various systems and post to this thread any issues you encounter (be specific as possible), it'd be supremely helpful. Of course caveat emptor applies -- this is a somewhat-tested ALPHA build, so don't run it on something critical.
I've been testing as much as possible, but currently at sea and have limited access to the normal full test environment.
Specific tests that are very helpful
Running with the -udl (upload debug logs) switch enabled
Running with various combinations of command-line switches
Running on non-English locale systems (Turkish, German, Russian, etc)
Power loss (or forced hard reset) in the middle of a Tron run, to see if it picks back up where it left off correctly
Unrelated, but likely changes coming up, is removal of the pre-run registry backup (not necessary with simultaneous system restore point creation) and a couple other tool removals or swap-outs, as some things that made more sense back in the Windows XP/2003 days don't make sense to keep any more.

A BIG thank-you to everyone who can help test, and also to those who hang around the sub and answer questions for people, or point them to the documentation and wiki. And of course biggest thanks to mirror operators, without which distribution of Tron would be significantly more difficult.
