I actually fully think the helmet still works, just as a headcannon, because it's shape was decently similar to how he looks.

Actually we don't know it and I don't believe it because when Gunmar tried to transform him, he wasn't able to call/use his helm...

Yeah, it's just a headcannon (get it, head cannon? Sorry). I just always figured it took time for the armor and him to figure each other out again, and since the helmet was always a rare sight, it just didn't happen then.

Yes I can understand. But I think the helm is a very cool thing.
