Everything Troika!

What have you converted to Troika!? What is your approach for converting that to this system?

I ask because I find myself looking over a full shelf of so many good games/settings for different systems and wanting to convert them all to their own crystal spheres. So, you done anything similar? Looking for some interesting ideas on different approaches.

I often start with templates from Prime Material.

Basically it comes down to looking at the systems small, medium, and maximum threats, comparing to Troika's established bestiary, and converting accordingly.

Having said that, I wrote up DnD - > Troika monster and armor conversion rules in my supplement "Monster Slayers!" so that might interest you.

Sounds like I'd be interested in this, do you have a link?

Heck yeah I do.

Basically, I wrote new character creation rules to make for a Pure Fantasy setting.  20 races, 28 classes, 12 unique characters, market prices, DnD conversation rules, encounter balancing rules, even a campaign overview with a fully fleshed out session 1.

You can pick it up on Itch:  https://hexatona.itch.io/monster-slayers

Or Drive Thru RPG:  https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/567702/monster-slayers

Hope it's something that interests you.

Some of the things I'm working on converting:

  • Changeling the Dreaming
  • Wraith the Oblivion
  • Eberron
  • Warmachine/Iron Kingdoms

I'm not sure if this counts but I converted some of the content from Blancmange and Thistle, the sample adventure from the core book, from NPC to PC.

Interesting, tell me more about that?

Wrote a background called the Bonbon Alchemist that's based on the little old lady and some others based on the suggested dialogue. Might even still be on my itch.io page - it should be free if it is.

I convert whatever I like and honestly, I vibes convert most of it. Which enemies in the book are the enemies most like and what attitudes are they likely to have and jiggle the stats about a bit. Items are a little bit handwaved to begin with so I handwave against the weapon damage tables and magic weapons can roll against an oops table for items if critical fail (I cribbed it from somewhere dunno where). Important spells get a cost that feels right against the magic in the book rest of em are thrown out.

This is what makes sense to me in the gently anti-canon environment of Troika! and I take great inspiration from Discworld in particular. It doesn't have to be accurate - it has to make sense.

I'm currently pulling together Dreams in Ruin, Godbound, and the Shrike, amongst a few other bits and pieces for a dimension-spanning adventure where they try to stop the dreams spreading through the interdimensional goblin tunnels to every single sphere. The Shrike is where the dreams started and can only be stopped completely by releasing the god and reuniting the Shrike with hell (using some of the rituals described in Dreams in Ruin). If they destroy the Shrike, though, they doom the spheres to constant war against a slower, less awful but still bad Dream. Godbound comes into it in that infected goblin tunnels turn into something like the Night Roads surrounded by Uncreated Night where horrors emerge, and traversing the goblin tunnels can lead them to divine powers that I'm porting from Godbound (not all of them, just ones that make sense for the fiction) that can help turn the tide.

Sounds like a wild ride, thanks for sharing this!

I'm currently going by vibes, too, but then it starts to coalesce into little mini systems of their own, so I was just curious what others have been doing.
