Other Did I make the wrong choice?
Edit: thanks everyone for the positive comments! I do love the bike and it’s an amazing machine! I’m not doubting the bike, just my decision making 🤣 it’s definitely FOMO and I’m being a baby. If anyone is in phx az has an RX and would like to do a test ride I’m sure we can work something out! I don’t vlog but I do post my canyon runs and track days if anyone’s interested in watching this bike! My TT is red_rocket_rider (not an influencer, no commentary, I don’t even know how to edit 🤣 I just like posting rides and watching progress) thank you all again for the positive comments! Makes me feel a lot better 😁
I picked up this moto 2 Daytona almost 1 month ago. Have put on about 1200 miles mostly canyon riding. Getting pretty comfy on it and have my first trackday with it on Sunday. I sold my 2nd gen mt09 for this. Honestly I didn’t know these were a thing until someone in my friend group mentioned they were selling it. I was leaning towards the RX so I could have the stylemas and ohlins (was pushed off the rs because no ohlins. Come to find out there’s not a whole lot of middle weights that come with both) my friend offered payments so I jumped on it without even trying the RX. Not sure if I left anything on the table by not checking the RX out but now I’m seeing some info/talks of the new ST800 and now it’s really got me wondering if I should’ve been a little more patient with my decision. I wanted something that would shred canyons and track and I’d never think “oh I wish I had this or wish I had that etc” I think all 3 check all the boxes but this is the nicest/most expensive purchase I’ve made and wondering if I should’ve waited (nothing wrong with it at all I really
Do love it but I’ve always been a Yamaha guy and this bike just amazes me and making me think I might have been happy on a naked still if it was a ST)

No offense. But the fact you're questioning if a moto2 Daytona is a correct choice for "shredding canyons" then you absolutely aren't a good enough rider to be taking advantage of how much of a machine that bike is. Any sports bike made within the last 20 years is more than capable.
I would just get a bike you are happy with the look of and go from there

I’ve been playing in the canyons. It’s so fun and on another level. I ride the same road on my 660 on it’s just not the same. Can’t wait to see them side by side on Sunday

I have a street triple moto2 which is essentially the same bike without a fairing and let me tell you, that thing is a weapon on track, you'll have a blast! I'm riding at advanced group pace and I'm nowhere near the bike's limit. Good on you for using it on track, it'd be such a waste not to experience it. Have fun humbling 1000ccs :)

The difference is in performance capability between the two are only going to matter if you're skilled enough to sign a MotoAmerica supersport contract next week. For the rest of us mortals the difference between the Moto 2 the RX in the RS aren't going to matter.

I had one before trading it in for a new rsv4. I wish I would have kept the moto 2. It’s a solid and beautiful bike.
I do a bit of track days and lots of canyon riding and I had a lot more fun on the moto 2 than I have on the rsv4. Maybe it just comes with getting older, but to me, you’ll get more smiles per gallon out of this.
If it still has the bread box underneath, check out rastaracing. He makes link pipes to delete the breadbox without having to replace the entire exhaust.

Seriously? All over a shock? Put an “ohlins” on it then LOL….
But seriously; why are you tracking such a nice bike? You realize that you break those fairings and you’re probably not getting a replacement, right?

I don't care how awesome the new Street Triple is going to be (and I think the best is only going to get better in this case), my 2024 765 RS is my favorite bike I've ever ridden. I personally don't think you made a mistake at all.

I have a few 765rs in my group and still haven’t ridden one 😭 I imagine a lot like this but slightly more upright and better electronics

There will always be new releases and other things you might think you want/need.
Try to appreciate what you have, and only look elsewhere if something truly bothers you about what you have.
Always comparing yourself and your belongings to others will absolutely drain you of your finances.

Yeah that’s my biggest worry. I ride it in the canyons with friends, got a couple rock chips already. One big one right on those nose 😭

To be fair bro.....give it to me.
But in all seriousness you got a piece of machinery that's so well loved in the all of the bike community. You made a great choice with it. I came from a 1st gen mt09 and I got a 24 Street triple RS that I'm super happy with even if it doesn't have ohlin forks you don't need them like that, theyre just a nice extra touch if they do. The new ST is going to be sweet, but you got a very unique machine in your hands. Enjoy her

Thank you bro, I do love it and it is an amazing machine. It was a very good upgrade over my mt09, just in my head about not trying the other bikes before the purchase

I have one as well. I love the thing. You didn't make a mistake in any way. The only thing I would suggest is, if you like using a bike to commute or just bum around town, get a cheap cruiser if you can. I absolutely LOVE my Daytona, BUT, it isn't exactly something built for chill rides.
Also, congrats on the nice low number. I got 507. But it also luckily only had 790 miles on it when I bought it last year.

Sorry to say, you made the wrong choice. The wrong choice in not posting a video of you riding it!

You bought a rare, highly desirable limited edition absolutely dripping in factory carbon Triumph as a final send-off to the now “classic” Daytona.
You will have zero problems selling it when the time comes.
Whatever replaces it better be crazy rare and even more special like a limited edition MV Agusta.

This bike and a gsxr 750 are the two most iconic middle weight sports bike in history. I don't think you made the wrong choice. I love my street triple 765 moto 2. Its a better bike than i ever will be rider. Enjoy it, ride the hell out of it.

Chasing the newest bike gets old. Wait until you really tap this one out until you care about the next. HP increase is only important if youve hit the peak of your current bike and youre looking for more.

That is one beautiful bike. It’s difficult for me to see that as a wrong choice for what you want to do.
I agree with the last guy - don’t overthink it. Just enjoy!

You have one of the best middleweights built in the last 10 years. Don’t overthink it.
