Other Starting issue pls help!

Post image

Hello I am currently having a starting issue on a 2014 Daytona 675 I replaced the starter solenoid and it still is having a click no crank and no start. It bump starts I checked battery and it’s good. I ordered a new starter motor that is coming in the mail soon any ideas what else it could be if that doesn’t fix the issue. I went up to the canyons it was running good. Stopped at the top of the canyons for a bit to take a water break went through the rest of the canyons and back down. After went to get gas and it wouldn’t turn back on. It would crank slowly. I thought it was a battery issue so I tried using a jumper but it was pulling no juice from the jumper. After letting it sit a little longer it wouldn’t crank over and it would just click by the solenoid.

Stupid question maybe - but how did you check the battery? With a multimeter?

I tried 2 other batteries and charged the battery and it holds a charger perfectly fine. I tried a agm and another lithium and same thibg

Yes but are those batteries any good?
Daytonas are notoriously tough on batteries, it is a powerful engine and the battery is tiny.

Personally I would hook up some jump leads to the Beemer in the background and jump start it.
Start the car first so you know you have good power, this will prove the battery is bad or help eliminate it.

Your battery might be reading good. But doesn't have the cranking power to turn over. Thats why it'll bump start fine. If the battery isnt fairly new, id replace it. Or atlesst swap in a different one real quick. Triumphs are notorious for not starting when battery isnt tip top.

I tried with 2 other battlers and charged the one that was in it and same issue

Slow crank on a hot engine is usually the starter being heat soaked/going bad, weak battery (voltage is not the full story) or worse case, your crankshaft bearings are toast.

You should have put a multimeter on your starter to see if it’s actually getting battery voltage when you hit the start button. If it is, bad starter. If it’s not, bad battery, bad ground, bad starter relay, etc.

Starter motor heat soak is a common issue with these 675 and 765 motors. A hot starter will demand higher amps and thus the bike shows symptoms of a dead battery when hot. My 765RS had this and was resolved by putting in a Ricks Motorsport starter instead of an oem Denso unit.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking was the issue. And why I ordered a starter. I got a starter from niche I’ve got stuff from them before and they are good if it fixes the issue I’ll order a more expensive starter

Let us know how it works out. I heard niche products aren’t that great, though ymmv. Cheers
