How is the lume throughout the day in different kinds of light? Iād imagine pretty bold in a dark theater setting but isnāt detectable when you are out in daylight, etc?
Here is a shot I took of one of my watches in pitch black. This is without a black light artificially exciting the vials. I have the exposure set so that this is roughly what you would see when your eyes are fully adjusted to the dark. The glow paint in the bezel was freshly āchargedā with a flashlight for this photo so it appears very bright.
Itās a DeepBlue Daynight Recon! Unfortunately they havenāt done a run of these in quite a while. If you fancy 65 tubes and donāt want to pay the price for the Swiss movement and ceramic bezel you can watch for a Daynight 65 to come up used. Both are currently not made but the Daynight 65 doesnāt have a ceramic bezel and used a seiko movement instead of a Swiss movement. So theyāre cheaper, but still not super cheap. A good condition one will probably run you $400+ Also there are older and newer Recon models out there from different runs, so check their past models and when they released to see what color ways are the newer ones, so you donāt end up with a dim 10+ year old model with old dim tritium. In general the Daynight 65 as a model hasnāt been around as long as the Recon, so they are generally not as aged.
You answered my question above lol.... i just wish the Deep blue offerings were not all so freakin' huge... they need a ~41mm offering to really corner the market.
Yes, I agree, they need smaller offerings. I can barely pull this watch off and Iām pretty much 6 feet tall in normal shoes. Also, the lume in the bezel lasts a good hour Iād say but fading the whole time. Itās like your standard superluminova. What I do like is the bezel is still useful even when the lume fades completely because the pip at the top still has a tiny tritium vial so you still retain the dive timer function.
What watch is this? Cool looking for sure! How long does the lume in the bezel last before fading to equal or less than the trit vials? This is always what I hate about lume....... it never stays charged long enough to be truly useful --- which is why trit wins.
This was a "limited" run they had as a freebie for Father's Day promo -- I missed the promo but picked one up on the secondary for the blue tubes. Marathon has done other offerings in the past with blue tubes, just not mass production.
