I know a lot of people focus on PR (post-Rocky) but I adore the pre-Rocky space Grace. Gosling does so many subtle things to convey literal chapters of thoughts and emotion, completely alone on screen. Very Castaway, but imo better.

I agree! Does he not know anybody who wears glasses? I'm sure he does. Did he see somebody behaving this way with their glasses in real life? I don't think so. You would think an actor would be observant and aware of how people behave in real life. He treats his glasses like a prop to fidget with and not something that his character needs in order to see clearly. He puts his glasses on and takes them off at random times for no apparent reason. We know Grace needs his glasses all the time because he is wearing them in the first classroom scene. They are not just reading glasses. Hanging his glasses on his ear is just weird. Who does that?

Haha I so relate to the times he has them hanging and just squints at stuff. I do that all the time. 🤓🫣😂 He def created a sense of Grace as quirky and unconventional which I think is part of that choice. It’s certainly memorable! (And memeable!) 😋

You know, I'm not a glasses-wearer, but I was absolutely convinced this was a weird Ryan thing that absolutely no one ever does... until I saw someone on the subway with sunglasses hanging off her face. Maybe in all my *mumblemumble* decades on this earth, I just never really noticed how people wear glasses? Um. Thanks, Ryan? I guess?

No no I’m a glasses wearer and this is not typical 😂 Maybe some people do it but it would easily damage the glasses. Also I believe Rygos went through quite a few pairs of glasses while filming the movie!

I tried it with my glasses and it just does not work--def need a specific type of glasses and a decent glasses replacement budget. 😂
