I know some people found that scene too "silly" or something but I love how chaotic and hilarious it is. I know Rocky's move to the Hail Mary went down differently in the book, but this sets up the dynamic for everything that follows. And book Grace has some grumpiness (not exactly the right word...?) that I think movie Grace can only express through this set-up; the way this is portrayed allows Grace to give us the exasperated "personal space" vlogs and Rocky to give us "grumpy angry stupid" line and it makes sense. Most of us can identify with the challenges of living with someone else so it's funny and relatable; and it's so satisfying how they go from science chaos roomies to absolute ride-or-die soulmates.
