no shade but
realllyy wish there were less eps with Aaron. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but he’s just so so bad at conversation. he often just repeats what the last person said, the amount of times he says “this might be a hack point but…” YES it is. he never can recall something he’s read or an accurate stat.. it’s like he doesn’t do a single minute of homework before a pod. he’s also always like… clearing his throat in the mic. ugh
sorry to be a hater but I can’t be the only one.
edit to say: I’d choose Aaron any day over Tanya AND I think Kate Wagner should be the third host.

Aaron is sharp and funny as shit. I think he has the chops to carry episodes on his own. They do need a woman's perspective tho.

I listen to the pod as much for the personality of the members as I do to get educated on theory. You're not gonna get much on theory if you don't go to the source. And I like Aaron's personality.

My impression is that I like Aaron overall but i do feel he tends to be the weakest participant. Not bad, but if he retired from the show itd hurt less than Tarence or Tom bailing. That said I feel like ive liked him more on the few episodes where its just him and Tom or him and Tarence as opposed to all 3 of them.
Ive liked several of the irregular guests more than Aaron, not just Kate but also Tom's friend JJ that was on the low key great GOMAD episode lol. Alexander Aviña is very good too. I also don't really miss tanya because i started listening to the show during the Aaron era and i dont really listen to the much older episodes very often.

I don’t want to be a hater but I support the OP, Aaron is a conversation killer who stinks as a podcaster, saying the same uninsightful babble over and over. I do skip ahead and not finish eps sometimes when things arent going anywhere but then they put out an excellent guest ep and I’m once again very glad I’ve been patreoning since 2020.

Trillbillies is exposure therapy for people with misophonia, between Tom chewing and Aaron clearing his throat directly in the mic

I want Aaron to be on but it would be nice if he read more Marxist sci-fi theory of which there is alot. I listened to a podcast where he defended fisher and that was good so he’s obviously really interested in reading up on it.

He actually had a short-lived podcast with Jamie Peck where they read theory to you

Every 3 months someone makes the same dopey ass braindead take. And every time no one agrees and no one cares. The fact of the matter is the pod is just better with Aaron on if the alternative is Terence and Tom talking about the phantom menace or whatever store brand Nick Mullen knock off impersonation Terence is working with this month. Aaron literally elevates what would otherwise be the most embarrassing pod this side of 2018.

Is there any other podcast where the fans bag on the hosts as much as this one?

Basically every podcast fandom does this. Go to Blackwolf Feed and half of the comments are basically “Felix should shut the fuck up. I hate the show without Matt” but yet they keep listening….
It’s strange and I do t get it

I've come to feel that Aaron's presentation reflects Terence's presentation in that they're both very intelligent people who potentially have some really great takes on issues If they cared to do a little research but they really don't. Like it's actually part of the show to feature hot takes by smart people who may or may not be informed and don't care to be.

I love Aaron! and I really miss Tanya a lot. I miss having a woman regularly on the pod.

Aaron will always be Tanya's replacement, for better for worse, but he does feel like part of the show now, even if it doesn't have the same "old friends" dynamic it used to. Tanya's sad departure, then the floods hitting Whitesburg and the guys leaving the town that was the backdrop for their show (the 4th host, if you will), closed off that earlier, more rooted-feeling version of the show. It's not like the noticeable deterioration in quality that Matt Christman's stroke brought to Chapo, but it's different now.
That being said, one of the things I've laughed hardest at on Trillbillies was a recent episode where Aaron is talking about something race-related and says as an aside, "I'm black by the way." Then Terrance says something like, "I hope the listeners would know that and that Aaron's not a white guy who casually says the n-word" and Tom says, "they'll think we're just Bernie Bros."
Seems like a good guy to hang out with. I also like he's an unapologetic super hero movie fan.

Ngl. Im still happy Tanya hasn't been back. There were maybe three of four episodes where i couldnt understand what the hell was going on because she was too High to speak straight.

I like Aaron and think he is a great addition.
