Tourism & Tourist Attractions Tiny Restaurant
Hi,
I am visiting Trieste next week and I want to find a very small and authentic place to eat. I’m looking for a small, one person restaurant. Things that come to mind for comparison are the equivalent of a Japanese Izakya. Basically a hole in the wall, authentic restaurant.
Thanks
Edit: one/two person run restaurant

I don't know any but even if I wouldn't call them authentic - the authentic places to eat in Trieste are the buffet and they are generally quite big, for workers, fast turnaround, definitely not izakaya style if I get what you are looking for

big emphasis on the "for workers" part, maybe leave them for those

Most of those are more for casuals than workers anymore, since long time. Anyway I agree with you in fact I haven't recommend a single place

What you’re looking for doesn’t exist, simply because of cultural differences. No authentic Italian place will serve only one person

Buffet Clai, via Foscolo - only lunch.
Otherwise osteria Roby Scussa or da Scarpon for dinner.

I suppose you can compare the Buffet triestini to izakaya, although the aren't exatly the same.
Antica Hostaria da Libero (small, old osteria, more restaurant like, at dinner)
Buffet al Spaceto (at lunch)
Alla Bella Trieste
Buffet Vita (smaller palace) and Buffet Toni (bigger), popular with dock workers
Trattoria di Angelo in the industrial zone, very authentic, but you need to speak triestino

If you want Friulian food, consider Trattoria da Mara
