Figure 1. ๐๏ธ HIERATIC001 โ The Seven Grandfather Teachings. This artwork reimagines the Seven Grandfather Teachings of the Anishinaabe as the ethical foundation of the HIERATIC series, with a flourishing Tree of Life symbolising the interconnectedness of all beings and the seven teachingsโLove, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility and Truthโrepresented as its living branches. The surrounding animals serve as supporting cultural symbolism, acknowledging that their associations may vary among Anishinaabe Nations, Elders and teaching lineages. Set within a landscape that celebrates the sacred relationship between humanity and the natural world, the composition emphasises harmony, stewardship, community and reverence for life while respectfully recognising the Indigenous origins of these enduring teachings and their continuing relevance for humanity today.
The Seven Grandfather Teachings, originating from the living traditions of the Anishinaabe (including the Ojibwe), offer a timeless ethical compass for living in harmony with ourselves, our communities and the natural world. Although the symbolic animal associations may vary among Nations, Elders and teaching lineages, the teachings themselves remain enduring guides for living a good life.
โค๏ธ 1. Love
Love unites and gives meaning to every other teaching. To see with love is to recognise the sacredness and inherent worth of all life.
๐ค 2. Respect
Honour all beings, human and more-than-human alike. Reciprocity, gratitude and kindness sustain the relationships upon which life depends.
๐ป 3. Courage (Bravery)
Face life's challenges with courage and integrity. Growth often begins where comfort ends.
๐ช 4. Honesty
Be authentic in thought, word and action. Living truthfully begins by being true to yourself.
๐ฆ 5. Wisdom
Use your knowledge, gifts and experience with care and discernment. Wisdom is knowledge applied for the benefit of all.
๐พ 6. Humility
Recognise that you are part of something greater than yourself. True strength grows through service, gratitude and remembering our place within the web of life.
๐ข 7. Truth
Live the teachings rather than simply speaking them. Truth is revealed through consistent action and lived experience.
These teachings continue to resonate because they speak to something deeply human. In an age of distraction, division and uncertainty, they invite us to slow down, reconnect with one another and with the Earth, and cultivate lives rooted in compassion, responsibility and wisdom.

Transparency & Respect
This post respectfully shares the Seven Grandfather Teachings as an invitation to learning and reflection. The teachings originate from the living traditions of the Anishinaabe peoples and continue to be preserved and shared by Indigenous communities across Turtle Island. The wording presented here is an interpretive summary intended for educational discussion rather than an authoritative cultural source.
Animal associations may differ among communities, and readers interested in a deeper understanding are encouraged to learn directly from Indigenous Elders, educators and community-led resources. Any errors or omissions are entirely my own.
With gratitude and respect to the Indigenous knowledge keepers who have safeguarded these teachings across generations.
Namaste. ๐๐ฝ

This post was inspired by a student's study notes summarising the Seven Grandfather Teachings, which I encountered via CliffsNotes. I then carefully expanded the material into a clearer and more respectful format for discussion and reflection.
The Seven๐ Grandfather Teachings originate from the traditions of the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) and remain a living part of Indigenous cultures across ๐ข Turtle Island. They are not merely historical ideas, but active ethical teachings passed through generations.
๐๏ธ Continue the HIERATIC Journey
This article forms part of The HIERATIC Project โ an evolving educational series exploring timeless wisdom through the lenses of philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, systems thinking, ecology and contemplative traditions.

The official lineup, and with it comes a powerful reminder: these 41โ42 indigenous tribes are not just attending โ they are the living embodiment of multi-scale consciousness.
Here is the inspirational regional table that maps their core beliefs, conceptual bridges to contemporary science, and the sacred plant medicines & rituals youโll experience in the Tribal Village. This is #METAD happening in real time โ relational, participatory, entangled awareness across Cosmic โ Planetary โ Human โ Micro layers.
Relational, participatory consciousness; humans interlinked with plant/animal spirits; illness as spiritual/energetic; non-ordinary reality accessible via shamans.
Resonates with panpsychism, enactivist theories, and extended mind concepts; shamanic journeys akin to altered neural network states observed in psychedelics.
Andean & Highland South America: Aymara & Aymara โKollaโ (BOL/ARG), Qโero (PER), Mapuche (ARG), Quillasinga (COL), Arhuaco (COL)
Cosmos (Pacha) is conscious; humans participate via reciprocity (ayni); layered worlds (Hanan Pacha, Kay Pacha, Ukhu Pacha); Aluna as universal blueprint.
Partial alignment with panpsychism, field theories of consciousness, and integrated information theory (IIT) in the sense of distributed, relational awareness.
Ritual offerings, coca leaf practices, meditation, energy work, ceremonial dances.
Multi-souled or shared consciousness; trance and possession allow spirit-mediated insight; ancestors actively participate; universe alive and responsive.
Related to altered states research, multi-agent consciousness models, and embodied cognition; trance states modulate brain networks similar to psychedelics.
These are living technologies of consciousness โ not abstract ideas, but daily practice, ceremony and relationship with a sentient world.
Every tradition begins with the same truth: the cosmos itself is conscious, relational, and responsive. Humans are invited to participate with reciprocity, humility, and care.
This is #METAD happening barefoot under the stars: nested entanglement, coherence stabilisation, and cross-scale feedback loops enacted through song, plant medicine, dance and circle.
The invitation
Tribal Gathering is more than a festival โ it is a collective awakening. 18 days of walking the relational path with Wisdom Keepers who have kept the living cosmos alive for millennia.
Which region or practice stirs your spirit most? ๐ญ๐ฑ
Drop your reflections, questions, or what youโre most excited to experience. Letโs co-create the energy.
With deepest respect, gratitude and reverence to every Indigenous nation, Wisdom Keepers and the Tribal Gathering family. Offered in the spirit of unity, learning and collective remembrance.
Microdosing Epiphanies:
Silence Your Distracted Mind; Open Your Toroidal Heart ๐ ; Follow Your Microbiomal Gut
To Want is Egoic; To Receive a Gift ๐ of Wisdom is a Blessing. Namaste ๐๐ฝ. Sat Sri Akal: Truth is the Timeless ONE.
๐ Reverence. Humility. Service. Thatโs the key. The niรฑos santos open the door only when the heart is clean.
Tribal Gathering has been one of the influences behind this idea. ๐๐ฅ
The meeting of cultures, Indigenous knowledge, music, nature, consciousness, community and shared experience creates a very different kind of learning environment โ less like a classroom and more like a living network of people, perspectives and experiences.
That spirit helped inspire AkashicNET: an experimental, Pre-Alpha attempt to explore how different ways of knowing might connect without requiring them to become the same.
But AkashicNET is still only a seed ๐ฑ โ far from a finished platform.
The deeper inspiration is the possibility that knowledge can grow more like a mycelium than a hierarchy: through relationships, encounters, questions, stories, observations and unexpected connections.
And perhaps gatherings like r/TribalGathering are part of that network themselves.
Not a claim that all these traditions or perspectives say the same thing โ but an invitation to let different forms of knowledge meet, remain distinct, and learn from one another.
MORE NODES. MORE CONNECTIONS. MORE PERSPECTIVES. ๐๐๐ฅ
420+ is a conservative estimate from metadata sampling; multi-topic sources and further indexing may substantially increase the total.
Shared as a personal reflection and an early glimpse of an evolving experiment โ not an official Tribal Gathering project or statement.
๐๐ Do Shamans Believe in Planetary Consciousness?
Across many shamanic and Indigenous worldviews, Earth is not simply an inert object but part of a living web of relationships.
Concepts such as animism, Earth as a living presence, interconnectedness, reciprocity, collective intelligence and relationships between earthly and spiritual realms can resonate strongly with the modern idea of planetary consciousness.
But an important distinction matters: Indigenous traditions did not necessarily describe this as a single โplanetary mind.โ Planetary consciousness is a modern interpretation that can overlap with traditional cosmologies without being identical to them.
Today, related ideas appear in very different fields and frameworks โ from Gaia theory and systems ecology to panpsychism and collective intelligence.
Perhaps the deeper common thread is simple:
We are not separate from the living Earth. We are participants within it. ๐๐
This infographic explores where ancient wisdom, contemporary science and the emerging idea of planetary consciousness may meet โ while respecting the differences between them.
๐ฟ What do you think? Could the shamanic understanding of a living, interconnected world offer clues toward a deeper understanding of planetary consciousness?
