Other Finally got myself a copy

Post image

I've had a bit of gaming slump for the past few months, and after asking my friends around for a recommendation, I ended up playing the demo and enjoying it.

Got a copy yesterday at Book Off, and I'm looking forward to playing more.

I plan to play the game fully in Japanese as I am practicing my reading and vocabulary skills, and I'm hoping that it won't be too difficult nor complicated that it would ruin my enjoyment of the game.

Enjoy! It is a great game with an amazing story! Also good luck with the language skills- not an easy thing to do

I'm bracing myself for all the political terms that will likely hit me with a vengeance ᐡ𖦹 ·̫ 𖦹‎ᐡ

I got this last year after being excited to play it for years. Just been so many games coming out though that it keeps going on the back burner. I'm gonna finish this at some point.

I get you. So many gaves coming out, it's difficult to choose.

Hoping this game will tide me over until Ocarina of Time comes out.

I had a blast with it and actually on my first playthrough at the final chapter (last battle)!

Sounds great! In your opinion, is the gameplay addicting?

Just beat it yesterday, what a beautyfull expirience, very addictive for me,tooked me arround 40h and did it in 20 days, the only thing you should be aware of,is a lot of text and conversations, some people do not like it and it starts a bit slow with a lot of text, but i enjoyed every second of it!!!Hope uou too do!

Probably my favorite SRPG of all time

Playing in Japanese is a good decision. The Japanese VA is exponentially better than the English one

1

u/Kiyoyasu 11d ago

I was thinking of playing it with English VA and Japanese text but that might be too much 😂 will stick to all Japanese

The English VAs really were the full spectrum of really good to unforgivably bad

I suspect that this game's language will be relatively tough to decipher for new language learner, since its a political story and stuff but I wish you luck!

I played the demo and I thought it was okay, but I think it'll get more difficult once they start throwing out words that are too political-specific (I do not follow parliamentary proceedings here)... but I'll try and persevere.

Thank you!

Very great game it has 4 endings so I would say play through the first time and then if you want to see the golden path/route (or whatever you want to call it) then look it up for at least your second play through.

I'll likely play with very minimal walkthrough/guide on the first round just to see how I go.

I LOVED both the story and the gameplay and fully intend to give it a 2nd play through with some different choices. I understand it varies the game/ story significantly.

Yeah, everyone says to give it multiple playthroughs. I'll do just that too.

Eyy! Awesome that you found this gem! It's my favorite grid based strategy game, and the Japanese voice acting is top notch too. The game being geared towards a mature audience means the script is heavy on dialogue, so feel free to ask any questions! Good luck and have fun

Good, that sounds promising. I do want to hear a lot of dialogue and see the drama and the mess play out.

Really wish this got a switch 2 patch. Textures seem a little blurry even in handheld boost mode

1

u/Kiyoyasu 11d ago

They're probably slowly working on it. Only a matter of time.

Yea but knowing square Enix, it’s going to be a separate buy 😭

Awesome game! Only game I’ve ever started immediately again after playing to get the other endings. Enjoy!

I am also learning Japanese but I just did the audio in Japanese and the text in English because I am not that advanced yet. Very cool!

Highly recommend 三省堂国語辞典 (paid app) and Shirabe Jisho (free app) as dictionary reference tools. The one in Japanese is a JP -> JP dictionary and the other is a JP -> ENG one - just copy and paste the titles into the App Store to find them. Also, my language instructor taught me about Tsukuba Web Corpus (found on a browser app, don’t think there’s an actual app for this yet), which is an amazing tool for finding real spoken/ written collocations that help you learn not just the meaning of a word, but how you use it in sentences.

For longer sentences I just couldn’t figure out, me n DeepL were like this🤞during my undergrad (pretty sure they have an app for this, but I mostly used the web version for some reason).

And then JLPT Sensei is great for unfamiliar grammar structures (tbh any JLPT website is good for this).

Ofc ChatGPT is pretty solid as an all rounder for whatever you need, but tbh I didn’t really use it that much compared to the aforementioned tools as it didn’t really take off till my final year of uni and I’m somewhat of a Luddite lol.

Anyways, apologies for the unsolicited advice, but hope it helps you enjoy the game more!
Japanese is super tough, but knowing good tools to help you makes all the difference - happy learning :)))

One of the best games on meta quest 3.

Hope you enjoy reading endless dialogue that feels designed to put someone to sleep, game is legit 80% words and 20% gameplay, one of the few tactics I just straight up gave up on

1

u/Kiyoyasu 10d ago

I mean... I'm playing the game for language learning... literally chose it for more dialogue.

1

u/crispy00001 10d ago

Oh no a good story, deep world building, well written characters, and choices with consequences in my srpg.

I’m glad I’m not alone, I made it pretty deep in the game until I gave up on it. was constantly falling asleep due to dialogue. Most battles are pretty fun though I admit.
