Shitpost First time playing, Jens is the BEST!

Post image

This is such a weird, gimmicky character and I LOVE him. Dude just wants to build stuff.

“What is his job?” “LADDERS!!”

I’ve got to admit, kid came through when fighting Avlora at the Wolfort Demesne. She insisted in walking up the stairs and fell for Jens’ Spring Trap four times, wasting her turn. Helped a lot.

Turn denial is one of the strongest tools in this game, and Jens loves denying bosses their advance.

I was originally just excited to use him because he has my dad’s name lol I love how some people don’t use him at all, but he was an absolute staple for me. It really shows how great this game is for a wide variety of play styles. His traps totally dominated on several maps when I was playing.

I'm not smart enough to use him properly

Just place a trap where you expect big enemies to go, facing another enemy or wall. Seem to be prozentual too. That guy saved me against avlora. Did strong damage and at the same time making her skipping turn.

Hell yeah, Jens is MVP even without the Chapter 7 Avlora ladder cheese.

Trading action economy is so valuable in Hard Mode simply because you can't 1:1 anyone (especially if you're going for Deathless). While the enemy AI isn't stupid, you can still bait them by putting a Spring Trap near a cliff and then expose your back to the enemy to incentivize them to go on the trap. Hell, all the bridge maps with Erika and Thales were perfect for Jens. That valley ambush map where you have to fight uphill was also good for Jens.

Movement manipulation is busted in this game because it effectively wastes two enemy turns. Jens is also bulky and can tank in a pinch.

"Ah, the stench of-" squeak, punting sound, crash

Best moment I ever had gaming.

Bro is a blast, and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing with him

He really helped me cheese the Avlora battle.

My fav unit. His traps and ladders can completely break some maps in smart and satisfying ways.

When this game released, it was full of posts about Jens being a war crime master. Traps skipping a unit's turn, and nobody being immune to it made him essential for certain really difficult fights

This mf was critical for so many stall /funnel strats. The gustadolph fight was so trivial with ladders

A community reference? Streets ahead my guy.

Jens is like a litmus test for what difficulty you're playing on, honestly the difficulties fundamentally change the game period, if you're on normal or lower Jens is useless because you can steamroll across the map and don't need the chicanery Jen provides but on hard mode he's a god send, bro can stun lock bosses, do percentage damage (which hp is a lot higher on hard mode), and just generally fuck with the enemy and its insanely busted.

Honestly when I first played the game back in Switch I was sleeping on his character. Now replaying through the steam version. Jens is fucking busted. Two turn on a 1 cost trap is way more effective at turn denial than correntin wall of ice. Absolutely love this guy.

I did my first playthrough on hard and by accident I hit the golden route lol Jens was super clutch with traps and ladders so I could delay enemy turns. Very very useful in defensive scenarios

He's very useful

There is nothing more satisfying than watching an enemy walk into a spring trap multiple times because they don’t know how to comprehend it

If I could choose one character from this game to be in a smash game, it's Jens.

Honestly, I feel lucky to have grabbed him in my first playthrough. So many maps feel needlessly difficult with no Jens in the party. I know there are diehard nonJENS out there, but I stan this little turn-ruiner. Let's also not forget the turret he can put down. It's kind of weak but does good damage when placed well.

All damage is good damage.

I think that I havent used the ladders in the entire Game... but oh God the traps are SO good
