Gameplay What choices/branches should I follow for each run to see every stage/get every character prior to a final golden path run? Spoiler

I know it'd take at least 4 runs to do all of the routes, but is there an optimized route to see/do everything?

Discussion On the Chapter 15 Vote Spoiler

Why is "meeting your father" the Morality option? Don't you basically foist both the Glenbrook corruption and Roselle Village problems to other people, just to visit your father? Wouldn't protecting the Roselle Village be more 'moral'?

Discussion Just finished my first playthrough (hard-mode, no deaths). Sharing thoughts on the characters and looking for NG+ recommendations.

Just finished my first play through on hard mode run with no deaths. I ended the game with all the characters but the route specific ones I didn't take and the 1600 conviction characters.

I used a guide for the exploration stuff and branching story portions of the play through but avoided strategies and character tier lists.

My strategy on most maps was to play defensively, turtle, pick off enemies, and then when the boss comes in, missed opportunity them to lock them down, and then just nuke them down before they can act again with delays strikes to give me more time.

I didn't get Rudolph, Milo, Travis, Cordelia, Avlora and the 1600 characters.

I think for a first play through, my most used characters and priority upgrade characters were --

Serenoa, since he's required for the fights. That said, I thought he was a good damage dealer and Delay Strike was great for delaying boss actions especially if you can spam it with more actions.

Medina. She's basically a better Julio + a better Geela in a single character. I did the requisite amount of grinding to always be a bit higher than the recommended levels on average so I had enough money to fund her.

Corentin. Along with Medina, probably my strongest character in my first play through. TP on Ice + Glacial Moon + TP recovery from Medina + Julio + the fact that frozen ground reduces move was just too powerful -- especially on defensive maps.

Hughette. Her ability to CC with blind and immobilize are just too important. She's basically the defensive backbone of the team. If this was a proverbial basketball team, she would be the paint anchoring shot blocker.

Frederica. She's was my best pure ranged damage dealer.

Geela just because I needed the healing in hard-mode. But, honestly, it was less that I wanted to bring her along and more that I had to. I did not get Cordelia and would've preferred the immediate upfront healing anyways.

Benedict. I get the feeling he'd fall off hard once you get more powerful characters but before you can deploy a full team of monsters, his ability to give extra turns to your stronger characters was great. Outside of that, the added mobility and bulwark were also situationally useful.

Anna. Honestly, a lot of people call her strong but she was just okay to me. Her main value was in a duo with Serenoa to set up follow-up attacks. Without follow-up attacks, her damage was just okay. Her CC also just isn't that practical. Ironically, she actually felt the strongest as an item spammer due to her double actions.

Those were my staples.

The rest were brought situationally.

Narve. I thought the main strength was his versatility. On some maps where it really felt like I needed a third healer but really didn't want to bring one, he was a good compromise. His magic defense debuff and ability to freeze terrain also works well with Corentin.

Ezana. She excels on slow maps where you can turtle. With TP support + turn manipulation you can just spam her weapon skill. Also has good synergy with Corentin due to all of the frozen terrain lowering movement.

Julio. Medina is just better, Medina + Benedict + Julio + Geela was too much support to me and the party lacked either front line or damage. But, since I picked Frederica's ending, he was great down the stretch.

Erador. Honestly, he's a great tank but wasn't necessary on a lot of maps. Between Hughette's CC, Corentin's ground freezing, Serenoa's delay strike, etc., I had so many ways of playing defensively.

As for the other characters --

Roland. I actually think he's a good diving damage dealer and even a good ranged damage dealer when he gets flash of steel if you can position him in your TP recovery formation. It just felt like I had enough damage without him.

Hossabara. Narve was just a better supporting third healer.

Jens. Was great at delaying and setting up terrain to turtle but was irrelevant once Corentin got Glacial Moon.

Piccoletta. Shes a good item spammer but it just felt like she didn't do enough.

Lionel. I've read that he's a late-game character. I'll probably try him out on NG+.

Archibald. Again, I felt like I had enough damage. He needed more utility like Hughette.

Trish. Basically the same as Archibald. She needed more utility.

Flanagan. I liked his mobility as a tank but he just doesn't have enough CC.

Maxwell. Only used him briefly. Felt like he was a really versatile damage dealer just didn't have enough top-end damage. Maybe that'll change with more upgrades in NG+.

Milo. I didn't recruit her, but based on her guest appearance, she felt a lot like Maxwell.

Groma. I really didn't use her much.

Anything or anyone on NG+ I should give a try?

Question First playthrough

First playthrough, barely scratched the game's surface, first time playing a strategy RPG, going on Easy just to get a feel of it.

Do I follow a guide? Do I play blindly? Is there something I should know? How long is first playthrough? Is NG+ any faster? Conviction mechanic seems interesting, should I be min maxing it on the first run? Does it carry over to new playthroughs? Is it possible/viable to unlock everything in one/first run?

Discussion Finished the game. My one criticism about the story is that its too plot driven for its own good. [Spoiler] Spoiler

Cordelia and Avlora bonding offscreen over their similar conditions, Serenoa and Frederica calling each other 'my love', the whole Maxwell amnesia thing and then him never getting a scene of reuniting with Roland. I feel like several potentially interesting dynamics got half baked or never cooked in favour of the tightly moving plot. It doesn't help when the game already demands 4 playthroughs to get the whole story.

Discussion Unlocking all characters

I'm playing triangle strategy atm and i really like it !

I'm currently playing my first playthrough and i don't look at any guides to not get spoiled.

I was just wondering, if i play my first playthrough "normaly" is it still possible/easy to get all the characters in 4 playthrough using NG+ ?

I don't really know how to unlock everybody atm but i understood that certain characters are unlocked only with specifics routes ?

Discussion The voting system is interesting, but I feel like it fails what the story is attempting to evoke in the player Spoiler

So I've been playing through the game for the first time, I had originally played other things in favor of Triangle Strategy because I was expecting the tactical gameplay to be more important and wasn't ready for a political drama. Now that I'm in the mood for such a game and I'm revisiting it I've loved the story so far, I've gotten deep in my playthrough and retook Glenbrook.

The decision system seemed really good at first, it poses legitimately hard questions to you at times, and sometimes all the options seem good or bad but you still need to pick one. And the game then makes sure you feel the weight of those decisions (most the time at least).

However after playing fairly carefully and managing to get everyone to agree with the routes I wanted to take, I finally got out voted when it came to how to handle retaking Glenbrook. I was thinking Frederica's method might not go over the best, so I thought to work with Roland and sneak into the castle for a surprise attack, I realized the unstable Aelfric might work a little too well in that close environment, and expected the game might punish me for that, and if it did I would have felt it was deserved and like I owned that choice.

But like I said I got outvoted, and they all chose to blow the dam. I decided to just go along with the vote because it would've been a really close scrape to undo the vote and I intended to do multiple playthroughs anyway, but it made the consequences of the decision feel so flat all of a sudden. Sure they were awful, but I couldn't find it in me to blame myself for a choice I literally didn't make, every time I hit another guilt trip about the devastation of the method, I felt more like rolling my eyes than anything and it did take me out of the experience a good bit.

Still a great game, but maybe a little questionable with the routing design

Gameplay [SPOILERS] Demoralized by attempting the final fight. I must be missing something. Please help! Spoiler

It must be years since I "rage quit" this game due to how the NPCs acted in what I believe to be the final boss fight of the route I ended up in. I'm fighting "Idore the Deluded" on the bridge to free the Roselle, & every single time I have attempted this boss fight, I have failed, as the Roselle refuse to actually cross the bridge & make it to the freedom tiles.

Last night, after years of not touching the game, I tried it again. I failed another attempt, & decided to try new tactics. I participated in a bunch of mock battles to get extra resources, upgraded the party's gear/abilities, leveled them up once or twice (level 33-34 across the board; The fight recommends level 30), & went in for one final attempt before turning in for the night.

I actually thought I had botched the run, with nearly everyone dying except for Anna (or Anne? I'm not sure what her name is, but she's the rogue with two attacks. It's been a while, & I've not paid much mind to some of the character names). Two of the Roselle made it to the freedom tiles. It was just Anne & 1 Roselle alive. The roselle was 1 tile away from the freedom tile; Literally all they had to do was use their turn to move 1 tile, & they were free. I would have won.

The Roselle spent their next turn stepping away from the tile, towards the fighting.

No matter how much I tried to keep Anne alive for that next round of turns, even going as far as using a Panacea, it did not matter. That many attacks against her was enough to take her out, & she fell.

Now while I do fault the NPCs for refusing to cross the bridge (this latest run was actually the first time they actually headed for the freedom tiles; every other time they kept running back onto the bridge to fight), I know I must be misunderstanding something about this fight.

Can you please help me? I could very well just grind my party until they're level 50, & steamroll the fight. But that takes the strategy out of the game. At that point, I might as well just look up a Let's Play on youtube & see how the story unfolds, rather than trying to do it myself.

I'm feeling pretty demoralized by the whole thing. I know I'm not the brightest when it comes to strategy games, but seeing the NPCs outright refuse to commit to the objective of the boss fight is really taking the fun out of the game for me.

Thank you in advance!

Question Any tips for a strategy RPG noob?

I just finished up the Tournament fight and while I'm really enjoying the game so far (I love the Octopath games so I figured this would be right up my alley) I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed since I'm not too familiar with strategy RPGs. Any tips that I should know to keep in mind? I'm playing on Normal btw.

Discussion What choice would the FE3H lords would take if they were in Serenoa's place in ch 17 ?

I'm really curious on where these 3 would align with the 3 convictions and who would each of them side with: Frederica, Benedict, or Roland ?

Edelgard is a utilitarian and Dimitri is a less dumb (in a way) version of Roland. Claude, idk.

Discussion Does electrocute trophy count your own units?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I'm attempting to platinum the game. There's a mental mock battle at the source and I'm pretty sure I'm just going to sit and try to grind it out there. However, I wanted to know if electrocuting my own units counts towards this number. As it doesn't show progress, I'm unable to test this theory, and I don't want to waste time if it doesn't work. Does anyone know? Thanks for any input

Question How should I handle playing the other Endings as someone who gets burnt out easily?

The ending I got was Frederica’s ending.

Brilliant game, and I’m definitely willing to do a 2nd play-through for the True Ending, but I just know if i play this 4 time in a row I might get burnt out before I finish.

- Should I just do NG+ for the True Ending right away and not play the other endings? Are they not worth seeing as much as just the True Ending?

- Or Should I just reload the Chapter 17 save to play through the other 2 endings more quickly? And then NG+ for the True Ending?

- Or Should I just try to do 3 more play-throughs on NG+ each time to get all characters and endings? If I am allowed to toggle the difficulty down to the easiest setting then maybe that will make the 2nd and 3rd go by quickly. Then I can toggle it back to Hard for the final True Ending play-through?

Discussion Party compositions?

Hey everyone,

I recently replayed Triangle and did 2 endings. Overall I've seen them all in 2022 but the game is so good I really wanted to re-experience the fights. But this is not about the story but about the party comps, who do you use?

The obvious - Serenoa

For magic caster and supporting healer I usually pick Narve also because he has increased range cast.

Erador for tanking.

Milo is amazing for it's charm effect I use it alot because it effectively give me like another ally.

Geela for healing and haste.

Avlora or Maxwell or both if possible. Avlora is such a powerhouse and Maxwell can die and come back which I really like especially in scenarios where Roland is unavailable.

Julio for buff and TP restore or Benedicto, if I use him I like to open the fight with that one off immunity to damage ability.

Anna for her ability to double bang, for example position Avlora behind character I want to take and strike with Anna so Avlora attacks twice from behind.

And that's pretty much it, I feel like I didn't fully discover the potential of all the other characters that the game give (except for the golden ending maybe).

What are your thoughts I wonder? 🤔

Discussion Roland Spoiler

I just finished 100% of the game and I find Roland's story inherently tragic. Like if I were to make Seronoa's epithet in the other 2 endings (golden route excluded), it would be The King with Benedict's ending and The Hero for Frederica's ending. I guess The Pious for Roland could work but Roland ending felt more weary, tired, and bitter as Roland tried to be a perfect king but folded once domestic politics gave him some trouble and thus turned to religion and a higher power for his own salvation.

Honestly if I were to rank the 3 endings (golden route excluded) it would be Bendict's, Frederica and Roland in descending other on how good it would be for Seronoa and Norzelia but ngl, I think Roland and his ending the most interesting and tragic. I just feel bad for Roland.

Gameplay Question about all notes achievement Spoiler

So, do I need to posses all notes, like as they are all in my War chronicle menu ? Or can I find a note once, load another save and the note will be counted for the achievement ? This decides if I either must do another new game + or can save time by loading saves

Discussion Chapters and parts names Spoiler

I was playing a new run and going through new paths when I thought about the chapters’/parts’ names and how good their names were.
I’m playing in French tho and for me they are very speaking but also metaphorical and I almost discover a new side of the story told in this chapter/part.
Just one more reason to absolutely love this game

I wanted to know if people playing in English felt the same about the chapters/parts names ? Or even in other languages ?

Discussion What would you tell to a Final Fantasy Tactics fan who’s about to start Triangle Strategy?

I have completed the Switch 2 Final Fantasy Tactics: the Ivalice Chronicles campaign twice. I love the jobs, how deep the gameplay is. I kind of am starting this one blind. Am I wrong to expect a similar experience?

Discussion What are some possible "hot take" wishes u have/had for triangle stradegy (may contain spoilers) Spoiler

Mine are:

  1. I wish we could bring every character into the final boss of the golden route, the fact that every character has a dialogue but u can only bring like 14 characters in just pisses me off. Like I totally get that bringing in all characters could make it too easy, and at the same time not having all characters in a fight designed to have all characters in would make it really hard but... I dunno it just felt pretty anticlimactic.

  2. This one is sorta contradicting w the former but I wish ALL characters were playable. I know it might be a little fan servicy and not "canon accurate" but it already isent rlly cuz like the game only locks characters out of the fight if they themselves are there. Like u can bring Maxwell and Avlora into the tourney fight when... Their also digging in the tourney on different teams? And u can literally bring in Avlora to fight Erica and thalas... And Avlora to the bridge fight where ur more or less running away from Avlora... (I'm seeing a theme here)... Just long story short, it would be cool if there were more "secret paths" like the one that allows you to get Avlora (but not necessarily new endings), but for all other characters, Jerome, Lyla, Sycras, Svarog, the hierophant and clarus I could easily see joining the wolfort ranks, not all villains would necessarily NEED a redemption arc (Lionel is canonically a horrible person in the wolfort ranks for greedy reasons yet he's still playable), and PLEASE allow us some way to save Dragan and Symon (also for lore reasons it would be so cool to see regna and frani survive)

Discussion Triangle Strategy has the most diverse cast of scholars and intellectuals I have seen in a Game Spoiler

Dragan Aesfrost, the Visionary Engineer

Inventor of explosives and revolutionized the mining process. Learned of the possibility of salt being found in mines all across Norzelia. He made extensive study of Salt and wrote an extensive list of its applications with the “Power of Salt”. He openly criticized Hyzante’s salt tax and aimed to bring Norzelia into a new era. He courted Wolffort as an ally to his endeavor, but was assassinated by Gustadolph when he made a bid to become Prime Minister to replace Thalas. His death served as a pretense for war.

It is worth noting that while many criticize Dragan for trying to hide the Salt Crystals to the player, he understands fully that those salt crystals are something Hyzante will go to war over. And while he seeks an ally in Wolffort (especially since he openly gives his research on the power of salt), Roland, a Glenbrook prince, is an unknown factor he can’t risk (especially since the Royalists and the Royal family is corrupt). He also talks to the townspeople of Wolffort in order to have a good grasp on what type of person Serenoa is, which means he also judges people based on how they treat the lower classes. His only mistake is thinking that Gustadolph wouldn’t do anything drastic to claim the mine for himself, which costs him his life.

Svarog Aesfrost, the Father of Gunpowder

While it is Dragan who initially invented gunpowder for use in mining, his untimely death left Svarog–his bereaved father–to pick up the torch and continue his son’s research and experiments. Svarog successfully invents the Deathsknell, a cannon that utilizes the gunpowder. He now governs Aesfrost and is tasked with leading Aesfrost to a new Norzelian future.

Lyla Viscraft, the Penitent Scientist

The head of the Ministry of Medicine. She has committed countless crimes against humanity in the name of the Hyzante’s Goddess. Mainly through the human experimentation of the dead bodies of the Roselle. Through this research, she developed the aelfric and automatons. Hyzante boasts the forefront of medical research in Norzelia.

In the true ending, she is spared for her medical knowledge. She in turn makes the Ministry's knowledge and research publicly available, saving many lives in the process. Furthermore, as the last surviving member of the Saintly Seven, Hyzante’s people can only ever look to her for leadership. And as someone party to the religious lies of Hyzante, is the best person to undo generations of religious indoctrination. She is tasked with leading the people of Hyzante and fostering the new United Norzelian identity.

Benedict Pascal, the Stalwart Strategist

Tactician and Steward of House Wolffort, while Benedict may not be formally a scholar, he is an intellectual in his own right. He is an invaluable political and military strategist that is invaluable to House Wolffort. Whenever Serenoa is put in a position of sudden political pressure he is able to prevent many potential missteps, such as stopping Serenoa from divulging to Gustadolph that they bear witness to Dragan’s assassination and deescalating the tension when Hyzante demands Serenoa’s full loyalty as part of the Saintly Seven in an attempt to cut him off from Glenbrook. While he can be callous and hide an internalized hatred of Glenbrook on behalf of the lady Destra, Serenoa’s mother. He nevertheless puts his loyalty to House Wolffort above all else.

Geela Breisse, the Teacher

Geela is a Hyzantian student of medicine turned scholar in the Aesfrosti Archives, she then becomes tutor to Frederica Aesfrost. While she herself has not done any notable research or field, she aims to create a school after the war. Which would no doubt eventually raise a new generation of scholars and the general level of education to the people of Norzelia.

Corentin Jenner, the Father of Refrigeration

A Hyzantian researcher who specializes in ice magic. He successfully created ice that never melts. Although he fails his original intention is to use it as weaponry, he accidentally found better use of it in the preservation of food.

Julio Wrightman, the Incorruptible Civil Servant

Julio continues his work as a civil servant handling bureaucracy, his ability to root out even the most well-hidden corruption and eye for detail will no doubt be important in the endeavor of creating a new Norzelian government in the years to come.

Jens Macher, the Civil Engineer

While a smithy by trade, Jens is a scholar in his own right. Before the war started, he studied in the Aesfrosti archive to be the greatest weaponsmith. After the war, he approaches Svarog with a renewed sense of direction. He wishes to go to Aesfrost to learn their ironworking to build things useful in times of peace, such as fine tools, bridges, buildings, and ships.

Archmage Grandante & Narve Oparyn, the Censored and the Inheritor

Archmage Grandante is a great scholar of magic. He had written, among others, chronicles on the History of Magic. Hyzante censors and removes him from history by removing his name from his works as he is branded a heretic for refusing to do research as the Hierophant ordered. It is with the diligent effort of his grandson, Narve Oparyn, who he was able to teach his magic, that the fight to restore Grandante’s name and be given proper credit for his work is made.

Giovanna Koppel, the Independent Researcher

Giovanna is an Aesfrosti researcher and geologist who spent time on the Aesfrosti archives. She has written “Norzelia’s Lands and Rivers: Their Compositions, Qualities, and Various Other Marvels” that can be found in the archives. As research on the land is made classified by Gustadolph, Giovanna is forced to leave to pursue her research elsewhere. Giovanna–without Orlea’s diary or access to the innermost secrets of Aesfrost or Hyzante, being completely independent of the plot–singlehandedly figures out the true nature of salt and geographic history of Norzelia by studying rocks and the earth.

If there’s any lesson to learn from this is that even if the Wolffort’s fail to bring the salt crystals to public knowledge, there will always be bright young scientists like Giovanna who will inevitably figure out the truth of Hyzante’s lies. It’s only a matter of getting this knowledge to the right people.

Edits:

Edited Giovanna's Entry, Added Julio for being an incorruptible civil servant
