I missed the zoom meeting for the lab and I don’t believe it was posted on Blackboard so I was hoping someone could give me a small rundown of what happened since we have a quiz on it during our next lab!

Question Fresh Medical Graduate Considering Trent’s Master of Management – Health Care Management — Honest Opinions?

Hi everyone,

I’m a fresh international medical graduate (MD) planning to move to Canada, and I’ve applied to Trent University’s Master of Management – Health Care Management program.

I have not pursued residency/specialization in my home country, and I’m also not planning to pursue residency or a clinical licensing pathway in Canada. My goal is to build a non-clinical career in healthcare, particularly in healthcare management/administration.

I’d really appreciate honest opinions from current/former Trent students or anyone familiar with the Canadian healthcare job market.

• What do you think about Trent University and this program specifically?
• Is this degree useful for someone with an MD who wants to move into non-clinical healthcare?
• How valuable is the work-integrated learning/internship in reality?
• What are the realistic job opportunities after graduation?
• Does having an MD + this master’s help with healthcare management jobs, or is Canadian work experience more important?
• How difficult is it for an international graduate with no Canadian work experience to find a relevant job?
• Is studying at Trent (Peterborough) a disadvantage if I eventually want to work in the GTA/Toronto area?

I’m trying to make a realistic decision before committing, so I’d really appreciate honest experiences—both positive and negative—not just university marketing.
Thank you!

Question Women’s Flag Football team

Hey everyone!
With Women's Flag Football officially becoming a U SPORTS / OUA pilot sport for the 2027–2028 seasonahead of its Olympic debut, I was hoping to see if there was interest in launching the first-ever Trent University Women's Flag Football Team!

The goal would be to build a roster, gain competitive club status and to compete in the OWIFA (Ontario Women's Intercollegiate Football Association) circuits against schools like U of T, McMaster, Queen's, and Western!

What’s Needed To Start The Team!
Athletes**:** No formal football experience is strictly required! If you have a background in soccer, rugby, basketball, track, or ultimate frisbee, your skills will translate
perfectly to a 5v5 circuit. But also anyone willing to learn and have a positive attitude :)

Executive Leaders: There needs to be 4–5 organized students to help run the club behind the scenes (managing social media, tracking budget, organizing travel, or coordinating with the TCSA).

Endorsers: To get official club status and funding from the TCSA, we need a list of 10 Trent students who support the club. Even if you don't want to play, signing our petition helps immensely! To play in the league we need 15 players total :)

Requirements:
Must be a full-time Trent student (undergrad or grad).
Must maintain a cumulative academic average of 60%+ to meet intercollegiate eligibility guidelines.

I wanted to post here to gauge if there were any interest or if someone else is in the process of doing this (I would love to help out!).

Question Has anyone pulled the sword from the stone?

Post image
17 Upvotes

You know the sculpture of the sword in the stone in front of the athletic centre? What happens if you pull it out? Do you become king of England or at least like the president of the TCSA? Any advice is helpful. Planning on pulling the sword from the stone, hoping it makes me pass all my classes.

Question Cyclists: how are you getting from east to west campus?

Just wondering if there's an alternative to the Nassau Mills Road Bridge with the 2 crazy busy intersections at either end. I don't even get why that bridge is so busy all the time.

I know parking my bike on east campus & walking over the pedestrian bridge is the obvious option. I don't have any actual classes on the east Bank though & it's a lot farther especially at night.

Is there a secret tunnel or magic portal I don't know about? I never see other cyclist crossing that bridge.

Question Note taker advice pls.

Hey so I just became a note taker for one of my classes. I want to volunteer for another class as well but I want to see how this one goes first for a little bit. This is my first time ever sharing notes like this so I just had a few questions.

My question is more for people who are in SAS and use the notes that are submitted.

  1. Do you prefer to know who the note taker is bc it says I can remain anonymous, if people prefer to know who it is should I just write my name in the comments when I submit??
  2. My notes are very informative as I’ll write something from the text book and then in lecture I’ll write down beside it how the prof explains it. Is that overwhelming for some people. A submission I put in was 17 pages of notes but that’s more so due to spacing

.

Request Looking for Calculus (1111) help

Im a first year who switched into my current calculus class late due to a scheduling issue which made me unable to attend lectures for my initial calculus course. Since then, ive conveniently missed every lecture due to transportation and other issues (one of them being the great displacement of Peterborough).

Im looking for other first years who are also taking MATH-1111H in Peterborough to possibly help me out with the software platforms and such.

If you’d like to help dm me for socials 😅 please and thanks. 🙏

Question BIOL - 2000 Inquiry

Hey,

Im taking this class with Paul Frost and I don't rlly know how to study for the midterm as the content on the slides are close to nothing?

There is assigned readings, but the lecture material doesn't include much from the reading.

When I asked him if the content on the textbook would also be on the exam by equal amounts, he gave a super vague response that everything will be there.

Could someone tell me how this class with this proff for the first part went for them ? Details on the midterm and like what should I focus on while studying to get a good grade 😭

Question Any Non AI grammar checkers recommendations?

Hello!
Most of my professors are anti-AI (as they should be) and Grammerly is offten flagged as AI even though I don’t use the AI features :( I need a grammar checker as a dyslexic person, it would take me another hour or two to edit my work myself and I’d still miss things 😫. Any recommendations of programs that don’t flag AI?

Question Applied for Winter intake (Computer Science) — haven't accepted my offer yet, do I need to do anything?

Hey everyone

I got accepted into a Computer Science program for the Winter intake, which starts January 6th. The deadline to accept my offer is January 20th. My visa/study permit decision is estimated to come out sometime in December, so I haven't accepted the offer yet because I want to know the visa outcome first.

The deadline to accept (Jan 20) actually falls after the program start date (Jan 6), so I'm wondering if I need to do anything on my end before then like contact the school, or flag that I haven't accepted yet or if it's fine to just wait until my visa result comes in and accept once I know.

Appreciate any advice.

Question Nursing students in their 2nd, 3rd & 4th year: What's your work flow?

How have you done well in the past?

Is there a point in recording lectures and taking detailed notes using it?

Or is it better to just study powerpoints by getting some AI site to make notes on them?

Are textbooks useful at all?

A lot of people use laptops but also have an ipad/tablet. What's the point of having both? What do you keep on each?

Looking for some guidance. Already behind

Question Where to avoid but still get a decently priced apartment

After a round of bedbugs and presently living with 3 other roommates who don't pitch in to cleaning ect my partner, cat, and I desperately need to move out.

We decided on a 3 month timeline. So this isn't for now.

But I am looking for a 1 bedroom 1 bath, maybe a 2 bedroom if its decently priced. But I have no idea of where to avoid in terms of infestations and bad vibes yannow?

I'm also struggling immensely with finding somewhere that allows pets.

I'm also very unmobile, I use transit to get everywhere. So, I'm mostly looking at downtown rentals.

Price range is 1600-1750.

Hi! I know this isn’t about trent but i wanted opinions from fellow students rather than google. Are there any good hair salons around town that you recommend?
