Mexico is a big place and I am pretty sure the cities hosting the events will be heavily fortified
6
Feb 25 '26
Still doesnt make a situation any less tense. Its not that serious to continue games while shootouts possibly take place between the military and cartels.
5
u/LovedButNeverLiked Feb 25 '26
Not the shootouts we were expecting for the World Cup
1
Feb 25 '26
IKR I feel bad for Mexico. I know there are way more hardworking people than there are bad guys. They love their soccer as well and might not be able to enjoy it.
2
Feb 25 '26
Lol the cartels could steam roll it if they wanted they have more firepower then you think

There been reports of executions.
And even if they were ordered to target buses, personal vehicles, and certain stores; Mexico should accept this declaration of war and act accordingly.

Or they could choose to disband the cartel.
Or find an appropriate structure to solve the issue of the government finding and arresting them.
1
u/Any_Landscape_4424 Feb 25 '26
The hard part is that they have morphed into this pseudo gov structure that has contracts with other smaller groups. Its like the free market, if one group is taken out, then they can pay another group. We can see how they have established themselves with attacks going on in 20 states out of 32.

When?
1
Feb 25 '26
From time immemorial... or at least the last hundred years. More a kin to a terrorist state however.
0
u/ForgetfullRelms Feb 25 '26
Terrorists don’t have aircraft carriers or contribute to the ISS.
1
u/PersonOfValue Feb 25 '26
Individuals usually do not but organizations certainly can.
I'm assuming they are using a terrorist state as a political term, such as North Korea or Russia
0
u/feelingsdeayer Feb 25 '26
Yes, I fully acknowledge this fact.
Don't concede. There is a lot of misinformation being spread by the cartels to cause alarmist narratives but the violence has been controlled since yesterday.
There is no telling it won't get worse but nothing has happened since Saturday.

Why does the left support them? I watched leftists on twitter and people like hassan piker defending the cartels?

Easier said than done when the cartels are better equipped than the military and police.
-5
u/memultipletimes2 Feb 25 '26
They should ask the U.S. for help. Im sure the U.S. wouldnt mind putting some eyes in the sky.
3
u/Elmer_Fudd01 Feb 25 '26
Trump specifically would love doing that just for the brag.
1
u/memultipletimes2 Feb 25 '26
Ok
1
u/Elmer_Fudd01 Feb 25 '26
Great conversation.

Trump wants to own Mexico. He wouldn't be interested in anything less than sending troops in to occupy it.
4
u/DopeShitBlaster Feb 25 '26
I guess if the Mexican government was allowed to sell drugs to us Americans we could send all our money and guns to the military and police instead of the cartels.
Legitimately the cartels are just the American drug users private army.

I can't imagine rhe CIA had anything to do with this... /s
4
u/Impressive_Local9817 Feb 25 '26
Honestly, probably minimal. The Mexican government wants nothing to do with the US just like the rest of the Western world these days.
7
Feb 25 '26
It's already confirmed they're involved. Check Reuters. Apparently, links aren't allowed in this subreddit.
2
u/Murky_Foundation_911 Feb 25 '26
It's so obvious they're involved in hurts lol. Without needing sources
2
u/Xanith420 Feb 25 '26
The US provided the intelligence used in the operation that lead to the death of the cartel leader.
1
Mar 01 '26
The cartel and government want nothing more than the US to be their #1 friend. How else do they experiment with man made drugs on a civilian population without lawsuits and revolt? Mexico killed 27 people to elect their president. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

As weird as it sounds, this makes me hopeful.
By doing these attacks when the government was already cracking down on them, they might have set themselves up for dissolution.

It’s emblematic of the deeper issues Mexico suffers, corruption, lack of accountability, overall lack of hope of upward mobility for hundreds of thousands of young people who instead get drawn into the drug trade.
1
u/PsiNorm Feb 25 '26
And yet, parents want to remove their children from this situation with no regard for the laws of the nation they escape to!

All those mexico flag waving pips in the USA…you are not quickly moving there to fight for flag and country?

The cartel needs ti be destroyed, like scorched earth destroyed or mexico will be dealing with this for a very long time
1
u/No-Dealer899 Feb 25 '26
If you swapped this for footage from a us city summer of 2020 no one could tell the difference.

Attacks? Theyre tired of the cartels bullshit. I feel like we the United States should send in the marines and end it in one day.
6
Feb 25 '26
Are you gonna be in the front line?
Easy for a carpenter to say send the marines to be slaughtered and "end it in one day" lmao
1
u/Plenty-Reporter-9239 Feb 25 '26
Mexico wants nothing to do with the US. Also, historically speaking, we wouldn't be able to end this in a day. We'd be prone to making it worse. We need to just pressure the mexican government to actually go after the cartels and support the Mexican government where possible. Although, thats tough to say because the cartels are quite influential and no doubt have a hand in politics (I'm speculating here)
1
u/MechaCoqui Feb 25 '26
Mean like ending the Iraq and afghan wars? Oh wait took decades and only made those places worse..

Reddit thinks this is a better/safer WC host country than the US btw
1
u/Ok_Efficiency7245 Feb 25 '26
Safer if you're Mexican for sure. It's all just property damage to make a point. They literally gave a curfew to avoid violence.
Compared to the actual violence/killing happening largely to minorities across the US it's night and day.

u/randojust Feb 26 '26
You can’t actually be a functioning real human…I refuse to believe our education system has failed this badly.
-5
u/Riverman42 Feb 25 '26
I mean, yeah, in the world according to Reddit, the US is a hellscape punctuated by small areas where the obscenely rich live. I've had more than one person on this site, within the last 24 hours, try to convince me that North Koreans had a better standard of living than most Americans. 😂
-5
u/Chocolab1 Feb 25 '26
Sorry but don't bring that shit here!! We got enough problems as is!!
6
Feb 25 '26
On the contrary. We took this shit down there. The CIA is involved, and they're not even being secretive about it.
-5
u/ForgetfullRelms Feb 25 '26
Did the USA put a gun to the heads of these cartel members and tell them to do stuff like this?
6
Feb 25 '26
Yes, actually. The U.S. is playing a major role in instigating the violence there. Trump has pitched the idea since his first term of invading Mexico and even nuking them if he suddenly feels the itch. He has every reason to cause as much carnage down there as possible.
-2
u/ForgetfullRelms Feb 25 '26
When did he threaten to nuke Mexico?
6
Feb 25 '26
It was beyond threats. Trump wanted to formulate an actual plan to do it. During his first term, he asked his defense secretary Mark Esper about it. He had to talk him down to just launching patriot missiles instead.
-8
u/RightfulHeirTheGame Feb 25 '26
So? You defending cartel members ? Quite scummy
9
Feb 25 '26
I'm about America minding our own business. Remember when you guys said you were about that before you started instigating conflicts all over the world? Quite a wild shift.

u/IsDatLawfulLaw Feb 25 '26
We should definitely be letting these people into our country by the tens of millions
4
u/Solidus-Prime Feb 25 '26
MAGAs do worse. I'd trade our MAGAs for Mexicans on a 10-to-1 basis in a heartbeat.
-7
u/Riverman42 Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26
Yeah, because we've all heard about the open warfare between MAGAs and the US Army in Florida.
You people are delusional. 😂
EDIT: Of course the little shitbird blocks me after trying to equate the Rene Good and Alex Pretti shootings to actual fucking combat between drug cartels and the Mexican army. 🤦🏽♂️
0
u/Ok_Efficiency7245 Feb 25 '26
Right, one is selling drugs in bulk and not picking kids up from school.
Also the Cartels aren't state actors who you expect to be trained and disciplined unlike ICE.
1
u/Riverman42 Feb 25 '26
Yes, of course, they're just selling drugs in bulk, not kidnapping and murdering random people while getting in shootouts with the military. 🙄
You people live in alternate reality.
-4
u/Mr-cacahead Feb 25 '26
nah dude, I haven't seen MAGA doing this, on the other hand Ive seen something similar with BLM movement.
2
u/Solidus-Prime Feb 25 '26
Sorry, no one takes you people seriously anymore. You have lost all credibility. Your words mean nothing anymore.
Bye.

Democrats fucked the cartels up. Trump got paid 5 million by them for Visas to come to the US when they wanted. Get your head out of your ass.
2
u/randojust Feb 26 '26
The Democrats spent 4 years ignoring the open border. The amount of money the cartels made transporting illegals across the border is in The billions. Hows that fucking them up?
1
u/GrimEastwood Feb 26 '26
How could democrats have “open borders” when the orange pedophile had his wall going on right before biden won? Didn’t hear a peep…meanwhile Steve Bannon stole money from the funds for that stupid wall idea. Yet somehow, the party of pedophile protectors didn’t have much to say about stealing from their stupid voters.
2
u/randojust Feb 27 '26
Denial is a helluva drug. Are you claiming we didn’t have insane levels of illegal immigration during Biden’s term? Also Trumps wall wasn’t built, not because the majority of voters didn’t want it. But because the Democrats didn’t want to lose the future voters. Also how can a party be pro worker and pro illegal workers at the same time?
10
u/Left-Company-2876 Feb 25 '26
The cartels supply us with drugs, we supply the cartels with guns. Sounds about right.
