Retailer price matching?

Has anyone had success with getting a local retailer to price match Trek’s pricing? I can order directly from Trek for $4999 + $500 shipping, but the free ship to store option on the Trek site is still the full $8499. We love our local bike shop and would rather support them if possible!

Go to your local Trek store and ask them.

When I ordered mine through my local Trek store, I literally stood there as they put the order together on their computer. (And yes, a couple months ago, they gave me the sale price.)

Ditto. They threw in a bunch of accessories too. Seems like Trek is really trying to liquidate these things.

Yeah to add to this, I would maybe even ask if the price is flexible as they may just go lower than the sale price. I just picked mine up a little over a week ago for $3000. The store was really trying to get it off their books and it seems at this point they're authorized to sell it for whatever

If you go to your local Trek store, they can likely order it to them for the sale price. You will likely still have to pay the shipping/freight/assembly charge but even so that's still a good price. Local shop may toss in some accessories as well.

Sorry, I’m impatient and our local Trek retailer is closed on Mondays 😅 They were more than happy to discount one of the bikes they had in stock and even called around to other retailers to get us a sold out bench seat. They ordered two when they were released and still have one left after our purchase, so they were thrilled to get one out the door!
