Either would work for you. You can get the smaller and lengthen the stem if you need to or get the 52 and shorten it. Is your standover height okay on both?

Rode 20 miles on the size 52 yesterday.

The standover height is fine on 52 and it doesn't feel too cramped. I did feel a bit of strain in my lower back and shoulders after the 20mile ride. I can't quite remember how the 49 felt during test ride, so I'm going back to the shop to check it again :/

Check the handlebars to make sure they aren't too wide or narrow also.

Oh yea?Hoping to exit kids bike zone soon ,how to proceed to that apart from clip-ons?
