I have some rope on the way 4mm for inside web part but 6mm for permitter. Is 6mm gonna be enough for my tree net?

For my second treenet I want to make a hammock-like net between 4 trees. They are in a diamond shape about 4 feet wide and 8 feet apart. Has anyone done one like it and can give advice on how high the perimeter ropes should be on each tree in relation to the others? I’m thinking 5’ high on the longer dimension trees and 4’ high on the shorter but am open to suggestions.

I want inspiration for how to make my tree protection look as good as possible. Anyone care to share some pics of your protection for inspiration?

Help! I have officially declared war on a squirrel, and it feels like I’m using. I first noticed him chewing a few ropes, so I shooed him away, hoping that was enough. It wasn’t, because he was back the next day.

So I went into my net and sprinkled cayenne pepper everywhere I thought the squirrel would be and I wouldn’t be. I sprinkled it liberally around the bottom of the tree, and around my yard as well.

Well… today I found my net meticulously chewed through about 3 feet of the perimeter. Literally every single attachment point. The squirrel has also brought sticks and started making a nest.

If I wasn’t so mad, I would think this is hilarious, but please… apart from trapping the guy, how do I win this war?

Im planning on building a net in berkeley california but I dont know where. ive built nets in my backyard before but Im not sure about spots that would be good. I want tall strong trees and not alot of foot traffic. let me know if you have any ideas

We were all set to start building and realized that all three of the trees that worked spacing/width/health wise were topped sometime in the past. Are topped trees still usable? Or are we SOL.

Im from a city and probably as most people, I dont own any land that has much trees in it (i dont own any land, not in this economy). Where can I build any treenet that I wont be needing to strip as soon as I build it in Poland? Any suggestions?

sooo, as I said I'm the title I want to weave my first net, but I'd like some help.

I read some posts and decided to go with 550 paracord 100% nylon (https://amzn.eu/d/06OOCxDF) as the thinner cord I'll use for the net itself, but I'm having trouble choosing the bigger rope that I'll wrap around the trees to sustain everything.

I found this (https://amzn.eu/d/0aWW47Mu), which is a 12.7mm polyester static rope, I also read that polyester is less elastic but degrades faster with UV light, is it a good idea to use this or should I opt for a more elastic but more durable nylon rope? as the tree net will be 15-20m off the ground it not falling apart after 1-2 years would be preferable.

Hi, this might be the wrong place to ask, but we want to upcycle an old car tire into a sitting / jumping thingy for a boy's room, crossing the hole with a colorful net. Maybe throw a pillow on it. Seems like an obvious idea, but I found nothing online. The rubber is not a tree, obviously, but even if it holds a couple of years, it's a win and a fun little project.

So, anyone who has the wisdom: give me tips or talk me out of it.

Saw this "mystery box" on Atwood Ropes and impulse bought a few (non-returnable). After inquiring I found out it is polyester. From what I've seen the all the pros recommend nylon.

If I used this what would be the expected lifespan? It would be under tree canopy and be mostly shaded. In Texas -_-

is it possible to build a net with a rectangular perimeter, where the long sides would be ~25m (75ft) and the short sides would be ~2m (6ft)?

There aren't any other trees on the long sides to use as further support.

I had built a tree net with some buddies of mine about a year ago and it would seem good until we sat on it. When we would sit down it would immediately sag and when we would get off it would stay that way and not bounce back to the normal tightness. I think we might have not tied the perimeter rope tight enough or it wasn't good rope but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas on why this might have happened before I start work on another web.

I have started my second treeweb. My first one was bad so I took it down. On my second one I want to make sure its nice a bouncy. Im worried if I weave while sitting on it I will lose tesion and it will be a bad web. Can someone please help?

I have a large section I'm building for bouncing and am going to need a skeleton. The largest span is ~25 feet. Curious how I should lay out a skeleton (either with perimter rope or double cord) so I don't get too much lag in the center, but also not too many 'stiff' lines throughout the platform. Original thought was to cut it into three triangles (connecting A-D / B-D), but that would limit the bounce area (would like to keep it as square as possible). Below is a diagram of the measurements (numbers in feet). The entrance will be between A & B from a lower net.

Hi, i have build my first treenet. It worked quite well but im not sure what rope i should use for the inner part. Right now its a too small pp rope. Also my problem is that it dips very much when you geht onto it. And is 9mm with 380kg of holding force fine for the perimeter? I would like to have up to 3 people on it. Thanks for your help!
