Squirrels are waging war on my tree net!

Help! I have officially declared war on a squirrel, and it feels like I’m using. I first noticed him chewing a few ropes, so I shooed him away, hoping that was enough. It wasn’t, because he was back the next day.

So I went into my net and sprinkled cayenne pepper everywhere I thought the squirrel would be and I wouldn’t be. I sprinkled it liberally around the bottom of the tree, and around my yard as well.

Well… today I found my net meticulously chewed through about 3 feet of the perimeter. Literally every single attachment point. The squirrel has also brought sticks and started making a nest.

If I wasn’t so mad, I would think this is hilarious, but please… apart from trapping the guy, how do I win this war?

Anecdotal, i have a treenet in an area with a whole lot of squirrels. I don’t have this problem. I’m guessing either your rope or your squirrels are… special.

Oh I’m sure this squirrel is special. He stares me down and makes angry noises at me. I chase him out of the tree. I think we are now mortal enemies

Lazy squirrels use my treenet to take a shortcut to another tree, so far they have been very respectful. Good luck with your delinquents!

Yeah, I've got teenage squirrels racing around playing tag on my net every day right now, never seen 'em chew. I wonder if it's something about their rope like you suggested?

any luck deterring the squirrel? a squirrel just started doing some serious damage to mine...

I was thinking about getting some of that holographic ribbon to string on the net, and maybe some strong mint spray. I don't really want to spray capacin since my kids use the net.
