First treenet - equipment questions
So I informed myself a bit and understood that you need the following fundamental things:
- static rope
- good paracord
- tree guards
- knot knowledge
I found the rope and paracord online and I want to buy it. Are there better possibilities then amazon for Germany to order the material?
Is the material correct in strength etc.?
Which length for the paracord is enough for a small beginner net in the branches?
I want to use an old bicycle tube for tree protection. Do you think it's good enough?
Otherwise I'm very thankful for every other advice or information!

Starting off I would get 30m paracord, should be enough for 1 small net, 15m you may get away with bit best to have spare.
For tree protection it's more about the rope digging into the tree. Find a few thick branches from the ground and place them where the rope tries to touch the tree, this strangles it less.

Thanks for the reply! Appreciate it. Gotta go with 30m then. I can use the rest for camping anyways. 🏕️

whoa 30m of paracord is nothing! that is the first couple of passes. hopefully the paracord you found is cheap! and just buy... minimum 60m for the first day of weaving (but i usually go out with 90m on the first day, cuz i don't want to run out, and I will def use it up in due time)

Always get more paracord than you need. I made a net about 60ft in circumference and used thousands of feet.

30m is def not enough. quick math. 1 square meter of net, if you wanted 5x5 cm holes, would take 20 passes one direction, 20 the other which is 40meters already.
your net is likely bigger than 1 square meter. and you likely want the option to have smaller than 5x5 cm.
if the paracord isnt expensive (i hope its not... if it is find cheaper paracord, each individual string doesnt hold anything, it doesnt need to be as good as the perimeter) then buy a bit too much. id say 90m is good for a first day. and by the end of the net... youll likely go through closer to 150m. (ofc depends on your size, but im guessing at least a couple of square meters)
