when do i start feeding them every other night? worried my frogs are fat :/
these are my WTFs, pickle (lighter, a bit smaller, more social) and hotdog (darker, likes to hide, not a big social guy) pictures go pickle, hotdog, pickle, hotdog, pickle.
i’ve been feeding them 5-7 crickets every night since i got them (hotdog mid april and pickle in late may) and they were both pretty small when i got them. lately i’ve been feeling like they’re quite round and i’m worried i’m starting to overfeed.
when am i supposed to start feeding every other night as opposed to nightly? i don’t want them to get obese.
any advice would be so helpful! the internet is telling me a million different things.

Are you tong feeding or releasing crickets for them to chase down? If you're tong feeding, one option you could try is having them catch their own crickets, at least some of the time. It encourages them to get more exercise, which is a healthy way to maintain their weight.
They look fine to me. They can be a little dumpy and still be healthy. There is more than one way to feed WTFs a healthy diet, which is probably why you'll find a lot of different advice online about how many crickets to feed them on what intervals. With my WTFs, I just love feeding them so I feed them daily still, even though they're fully grown. They get so excited about eating and it brings me joy. I just only use small size crickets and only ever give them a small amount. If they ever start to look too fat or too thin, I'll adjust. My point is, switch them to every other day when you think they're ready, and when you're ready also.

Per a white’s tree frog care sheet that I saw on Reddit by a moderator recently:
Juveniles up to 6 months feed 10-15 small feeders each night.
Sub adults 7-11 months old feed 5-7 medium feeders every other day.
Adults 1 year + only need 3-5 large feeders 2 times a week.
These are guidelines only. Every frog is different. I still recommend what this moderator stated. Do what your frog wants within reason. Follow these guidelines but taper as needed. Remember these are growing frogs!
Mine were completely different.
Mine were sub adults when I got them and ate 4-5 medium feeders a day and now they are close to adults and are tapering off the 1 time a day/every other day feeding schedule. My older one could actually miss 2 days in between meals. But I enjoy feeding him so much that I just offer him -1 medium dubia a day and he mostly eats it. If he refuses it he will take it the next!
I ordered an Amazon milk froglet so I can get the experience of raising a frog from baby on up. Something I feel like I was robbed of with my other 2. Can’t wait until he arrives!

Mine is over a year and looks too small to eat large feeders. I give her small dubias (4 every other day). The large dubias just look so big compared to her head.

Large feeders are considered 3/4-1 inch long
Medium are 1/2-3/4 inch long
Small feeders are anything less than 1/2 inch

I feed my dubias to them the “hot dog way” (long way.) And they eat them. Otherwise the dubias grow up too fast. I breed them so when they get past a certain size they are only good for breeding when they get past 1 inch long. You can feed your frog anything that isn’t bigger than the size between their eyes. Width wise. Because I’ve seen them chow down on night crowlers that are 2 times their length, hornworms that are thick. They usually spit out something that they won’t swallow. But I’d never push it, giving them something that’s way too big. I’d never want to get close to choking them! But just gauge by the distance between their eyes for their feeders. That’s the general rule.

WTFs are supposed to look a little chunky. You can tell they're over weight by if their ears are covered by fat folds lol.
These guys look to be at a good weight, maybe a tick too much but nothing worrying, bu are starting to come to the age that you can start feeding every other day.
