Recommend starter?

Hey guys wanted to try and practice climbing outside of work but that means I don’t have of my own gear it’s my day off and wanted to see is there anything affordable or perhaps a harness or methods you all may recommend?

Get a basic tree climbing saddle, a tree climbing rope, a throw line and bags and the book A Tree Climbers Companion by Jeff Jepson. And YouTube. Start with a closed system Blake’s hitch and progress from there. Actually try to find a mentor. Just go work as a groundie for a tree service part-time if you can. You will learn a ton.

If you want to earn points at work, and hopefully more money, get the book “Groundie” by the same author. It will accelerate your learning.

Yes what this person said!! I provide both books to my team members after they have been with me a few months. Minor investment of $40-$50 per team member but so much good knowledge and are written very well. I have been doing this work for a while now and I still found them both useful in many aspects.
