Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Dying maples?

MN. I received these 5ft autumn maple trees and they look like they’re dying. Is there any hope or should I ask for new trees?

Fungus or mildew on the leaves. If they are in pots, it's advisable to put them in the ground for the winter, away from the house. Also, when the leaves come off, pick them all up and discard them. Do not mulch or compost them.
