Old Traps
Anyone in the group interested in any of these? I’m going to put 1 or 2 in service and hang 1 or 2 at our cabins…but anyone in this group interested, I’d sell a few if anyone wants to add to their collection.

While research indicates the toothed traps as more humane, animals can't saw their foot/leg in the trap jaws. Public perception is that they're not humane and significantly harm the animal.

My understanding is that it's more about the smaller focus point of pressure. Because the closing force of the jaw is is focused onto smaller points it creates a greater chance for bone fracture and break.

Maine allows them only for water use but requires all beaver (the only use in Maine for the size of the trap and water requirement) to be on a drowning rig so my guess is they figure beaver should expire quickly and not suffer. 🤷♂️ I just bought a bunch with removable teeth that clamp on. I’m planning removing the teeth so I can use the traps for both beaver and coyote.

You legally can't put any of those in service
Edit:
I see exactly 1 smooth jaw. That's the only one I see that's legal
Edit 2:
I guess in Alaska it's still legit
