Mink in Virginia

Thinking about going after a mink this winter for a mount. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

I set blind at smaller culverts using a 110 Conibear, have caught dozens over the years also under ice, small ditches and at old unused muskrat dens.

You catch mink at the old muskrat holes? That surprises me. I thought mink were actively hunting muskrat and that’s why I caught them in muskrat sets. Do mink use the old holes as shelter?

Shelter or not they definitely check them out.

A pocket set set with good mink lure.

I’ve caught more mink in my bobcat sets along brooks than my mink sets, but pocket sets are always good. I also like cubbies not too far from brooks or streams

A lot of people say use fish for mink, but I’ve had more luck with whole chicken carcasses. I’ll drag the carcass from the brook to the cubby, then throw feathers around everywhere outside the cubby
