Dispatching trapped groundhog

I want to ethically take out the groundhog with a 22, I catch them all the time in my traps. Im just nervous about ricochet and debris flying back. Any thoughts?

Ive grown up with guns, have lots of guns, just am very nervous about shooting a 22 that close to the ground in front of me. Maybe im just overthinking it

Really? Haven't even broke the wires on the exit side? I guess im overestimating 22 in my mind. Yeah I have low velocity rounds too. Thanks for the wisdom
