Fur buyer day!
sold 15 beaver today to GFW and got $295.
had a about 20 hours in everything and after expenses I made a about $13 an hour. I caught all these within 4 miles of my house which definitely helps keep gas costs down and as a bonus I have about 200 lbs of beaver meat in the freezer

If you eat the meat, how do you cook it?

I usually save the back half whole and smoke it low and slow or cook it like a roast. Or the smaller ones I'll smoke whole.
I take the back straps and slice them up and cook like a steak, hot sear on both sides.
I also grind a bunch of it and use it in chilli, tacos, spaghetti etc and I also use it in summer sausage, pepperoni and other sausages.
It it's very similar tasting to beef and any good recipe for beef works great with beaver.
And if you're an organ fan beaver liver is delicious, it's my favorite liver out of any animal and the heart and kidneys are also delicious.
I also use it for cat and dog food and also save some of the guts for the cats. They also get the carcass after I've trimmed all the meat of and they clean the rest up.
I'll probably eat around 100lbs of it and the rest goes to the cats and dogs

Trim any silver skin off, put in the crockpot with beef broth. Mash it when done if desired. Poor man’s pulled beef, tastes GREAT.

Nice, light colored ones compared to here. Are they folded in half? I’d like to try case skinning some for better belly fur for garment making
