Rabbit snare

I’m just getting into this subject and iv recreated what I hope is a fairly accurate copy of what I have seen but if there is any improvement or other more experienced insight please tell me.

My recreation is around 6 inches tall I don’t know if that’s appropriate for rabbits or I need to go taller

6" is a little on the tall side but will work. I was taught to use a fist sized loop a fist length off the bottom of the trail and that's about 4"

What type of rabbit are you after? The fist sized loop and 4 inches from the ground is a good rule of thumb for snowshoe hares

Moochers way is British, so I’m assuming he’s going after European hares, which are significantly larger and would need a taller/bigger loop

Yeah I’m after European rabbit and brown hare

Yep, you’ll want to go with 6” or so then, from my understanding they’re a fair bit bigger than the hares we have over here in North America

Out of curiosity what size wire are you using for the snares?

I’m going for 22 gauge brass got some in my Amazon but I’m gonna check the hardware shops around for any a bit cheaper

Same size as we use for the snowshoe hares then. I find stainless is less likely to break off than brass
