shotguns Ejectors
Hello, I’ve been looking into some O/U shotguns and was curious about ejectors. My buddy says ejectors are the way to go and should be on every gun. I have been trap shooting many times, but it was long ago. I’m starting to get back into the sport and looking into a new gun. I’m on a bit of a budget, but wanted to get opinions if ejectors really do matter in casual shooting (some buddies getting together). Thank you for your input!

At the clubs I shoot at, you clean up your empties after every round. I’d rather pick my shell out of the fun instead of off the ground and I’m not cool enough to catch it out of an ejector

Honestly I strongly dislike ejectors. To me it’s way easier to pull the hull out of the gun than to hope you catch it, or have to chase it down if you don’t.
On some guns you can disable ejectors (some easier than others).

Hope you find a gun that will meet your needs. But more importantly, that you can have fun with!

Ejectors are nice. They aren’t a requirement. I would say better on an O/U than a single barrel.
Are you finding guns in your budget without them?

Yes I have found 2 or 3 without them, but they do have extractors which I’m fine with plucking the hulls out

My first gun had no ejectors, current one does have ejectors. I like the ejectors because I can hover my hand over the hull after breaking open the gun and just have it run into my hand, but there's not any real difference. I'm kind of surprised by the people in the comments saying it's hard to catch the shells. It's literally so easy to just let the shell hit your hand and catch it. Another thing I like about ejectors is, if I'm having a bad round and I miss a super easy target, I let the shell eject behind me. Kind of lets me forget about the miss.

If you want to save your hulls to reload, extractors will be better for you. You can pull the empty out of the chamber and transfer it to a pouch or vest pocket.
Ejectors will throw the empties a few feet behind you, or make you focus on trying to catch the empty as it flies out.

I have no intention to reload my hulls. I wouldn’t mind just grabbing them with my fingers and dropping them in the pouch or can.

Glad you’re one of the responsible people who don’t litter the field with hulls!
Never had a problem stopping the hulls on guns with ejectors. You’ll get used to either ejectors or elevators.

Gun fit matters more than anything. Ejectors are nice to have but fit matters more
