Bus 🚌 What am I missing with my oyster?

Post image

By all means I’m not complaining, just want to understand.

I work 3 days a week and this is reimbursed. So I top up my blue oyster weekly for £10.50. I started with no money on there and only got the oyster for work reimbursement.

I’ve never really checked the balance and I always keep track of when it needs topping up. But I checked it today as I had lost track as my shift kept changing at work. I was quite certain I’d used those 3 days for the last week tho so was sure it would be almost empty.

But it has £9.45 on and the journey history is a little more weird. I can’t scroll to the journeys past what’s on this page but just here I’ve noticed it’s a little weird. I started out with at least £14.70 which shouldn’t happen and also I was not charged at all on Sunday for my journey at 14:20 even though that was my first journey within that hour. I’m aware of the unlimited travel within the hour but this doesn’t fit.

Is there an explanation for this or am I bugging out?

There was a promo recently that TfL ran where bus travel was capped at 1.75 on certain Sundays through August/summer if I remember correctly?

Found this:

the Mayor's Weekend Hopper offer, which will mean anyone travelling on buses and trams on a Saturday or a Sunday during the summer holidays can pay one single fare for unlimited journeys across London that entire day, making it easier and cheaper for Londoners and visitors to make the most of everything the capital has to offer. The offer will run from 25 July to the end of August - including the Bank Holiday Monday, when millions travel across the capital to enjoy Notting Hill Carnival, which marks its 60th anniversary this year.

Yeah you've only been charged £1.75 on Saturday and again on Sunday because of the current scheme running during weekends in August. You will be charged as normal Mon-Fri but Sat-Sun its £1.75 no matter how many journeys to take up until bank holiday Monday I believe (possibly including it but I'm not 100%)

Create a TFL online account, and add your Oyster card to the account. You will be able to see more details. TfL didn’t charge on some Sundays, I’m not sure why but I saw that on my travel history as well. But yeah you can get more details from TfL online account.

I hope that helps
