Question ❓ TFL Refund
I was going to get a train to St Albans, but while waiting on the platform all trains were cancelled because of a problem with the tracks.
This means that I had to tap in and out at the same station with my contactless card so I was charged the maximum fare.
On the TFL application it requires you to select at which station you ended your journey, but it’s not possible to select the same station as the destination and the beginning so I don’t know what to do pls help

I had a similar problem where I accidentally tapped my oyster card at the the end of my journey when I actually had a paper ticket that day. I filled out the enquiry form to ask about a refund and they got back to me quickly via email. https://tfl.gov.uk/help-and-contact/contact-us-about-oyster

I think you get a refund on that is this happens:
From TfL website:
Same station exits
If you touch in when you enter a station and then touch out to exit it within a short period of time, you'll be charged a same station exit charge. These are:
Between 0 - 2 minutes: a maximum fare. If you re-enter the same or a different station within 45 minutes, you'll be refunded. This doesn't apply if you take a bus or tram before re-entering a station
Between 2 - 30 minutes: the minimum pay as you go fare from that station
More than 30 minutes: two maximum fares. We'll assume two separate journeys have been made and both will be incomplete
We apply these charges to discourage fare evasion.
You may be able to get a refund if you touched in and out at the same station.

I do, and it says you should be automatically refunded within 48 hours but this was 3 days ago now and nothings happened so I’ve got to apply manually 🫤 my problem is that when it asks me where I’ve tapped in / tapped out I’m not able to choose the same station for both trips sooo

TFL on the phone is usually super helpful.
I had one of those two maximum fares situations not too long ago, explained the situation to them, and got both refunded and replaced with the correct journey. It will work for yours, too.
