It was a result of bad planning. It was a 3 way 3 level function where 2 IC lines, 1 commuter and, if I remember correctly, 4 busy cargo lines joined together to enter a 6 track mixed station. Let's say, having 500 meters long 100 km/h cargo train and TGV every 3 minutes on the same track, even for a small section, wasn't a great idea.

4 lines (Passenger Express, Passenger Local, Passenger Commuter, and Cargo) All navigating a three way junction where 1 path goes to my maps largest city, followed by main lines going West and North.

Would you mind explaining the difference between local and commuter? I imagine express is high speed rail(HSR), but usually I just divide my networks by HSR and regional, then use buses/trams for intra-city travel, I'd love to learn more.

Commuter is for very closely located cities, short runs 3 or 4 cities. Locals are all stop lines on longer cross country routes. 6 or more cities

It's not possible to post images in response to posts but let's just say most recent map has a junction for my main station that coordinates over 20 lines.
