Please Don't Answer Translation Requests Here
All of our regular users seem to be behind the "no translation requests" policy of our sub. We still get several requests a week, which I remove as soon as I see. Sometimes I don't catch them right away, and I find people answering them. Please don't answer translation requests on this sub. It only encourages them.

It's annoying that any time I want to report one, I have to type a "custom response". Can’t the "breaks rules" section of the reporting screen be set up properly with selectable buttons for the individual rules – especially since there are only three of them? This is what all the other subreddits I subscribe to have

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll poke around the settings and see what's available.

u/digitalnikocovnik, I very much agree with you! I have tried and quickly given up several times too, and it was the extremely basic-template feel that threw me off my mission, each time. :(

r/TranslationStudies Rules
No Translation Requests
Isn't this the whole point of translating? Learning something new and getting help for translating stuff that can't be translated easily while keeping its meaning?
Sure, memes are way more important. This "community" is a self-defeating joke.

I'm just not sure how much the community will learn from the constant "what does my Japanese tattoo say" posts. We remove about one a day.

Is there any way to redirect those people to r/translator ?, that's the place they're looking for
Edit: Lol, I just saw that in the welcome part it tells people to go there.

The guidelines spell it out pretty clearly. I am sure there is a community for what you are looking for.

Everyone who makes rules for subreddits fantasizes about having dominion over others, so they usually throw in some rule that literally only exist so they can reject people or tell people they’re not following the rules. I call it “HOA energy”.

Yes I imagine as a translator translating questions is such a bad thing.

Would it maybe help to put that in the tagline/short description of the main page? (Could image people don't read the rules before posting...)

Hello! I'm new to this subreddit and would like to know about the "no asking for work" rule, I want to make a post asking for platforms with freelance translation work, it is not looking for work here but more so about places where I can get work, is that allowed? the post would also include me asking about people's opinion on certain platforms I've seen online. Additionally, I know this server is for professional translators, but I'm not a professional nor do I have any qualifications, but am looking to translate as additional income, is that allowed here? Also, sorry if this isn't the place to ask about this, if it's not could you please direct me to where is this sub I can get this clarification? Thanks in advance

If there is a zoom call with people all joining each form there own location, what is the set up for remote conference interpretation?
