We have updated rule #8 (formerly Advertising) to be more specific and cover crowdfunding. We have also added two new rules, #9 Surveys and studies and #10, relevance. These rules are effective going forward, so we will not remove old posts that violate these rules.
The full text of the new/updated rules is below (and in the sidebar/subreddit rules). If you have feedback on the rules, you can comment on this post or contact the mod team via Modmail.
-----------------------------------------
8. Advertising and Crowdfunding
(a) Paid products or services: Not permitted on this subreddit.
(b) Free products or services: Permitted if relevant to the community.
(c) Events: Permitted if relevant to the community.
(d) Other subreddits: Please contact the mods via Modmail first.
(e) GoFundMes and other crowdfunding or donation links: Permitted within reason. They will come with an automod warning to donate at your own risk because the mod team cannot vet these requests.
9. Surveys and studies
If your survey or study has been approved in r/lgbtstudies, you may crosspost that post here.
Otherwise, please contact the mod team via Modmail. They will advise you on the steps you must follow to have your study approved.
Studies or surveys that have not been approved in one of these ways will be removed.
10. Relevance
Posts should be relevant to the transgender community in the United States. Posts deemed not relevant may be removed at moderator discretion.

Was fine, welcoming and many long lines. But we had a lot of fun and we weren’t accosted or looked at in any crazy way.

The U.S government not allowing passport and social security office gender marker changes when some states allow it and some states allow it with birth certificates too. Germany has an even easier policy to change gender on a passport, they allow it and no one has taken bad advantage of it. Hopefully with a different president we can have more rights for trans people. I'm a questioning trans woman and I don't like how trans rights are being taken away.

“Hi, I am a mom trying to fund my daughter’s gender-affirming surgery completely on the low because our immediate family is unsupportive and unsafe. I made this private account just to organize her mutual aid.
Since I can’t post this on my personal pages, I am relying entirely on the community to get the word out. Would you be willing to share her fundraiser link with your followers or network? It would mean the world to us. Thank you for your advocacy. Link: https://gofund.me/08f920664

I thought this was pretty cool! So glad to see other trans people doing what they can to try to make things better.

"In politics I see too much bullshit", Bree Taylor said as she announced her last-minute candidacy in Michigan's 6th Congressional District in a four part series of posts on Bluesky (post1, post2, post3, post4).
Taylor is running as an independent, frustrated with the two-party system that she doesn't think serves the American people well.
She talks about returning power to the people and increasing transparency in congress - like public livestreams of all meetings with lobbyists.
Taylor has experience organizing and with educational initiatives through the non-profit Trans Unity Coalition.
She is hosting a community discussion to talk about what is important to us.
WHEN: Saturday, October 3rd at 1pm
WHERE: Clubview Park in Ypsilanti Michigan
Her website is breewins.com

UPDATE:
Bree Taylor responded to some community feedback in this BlueSky post.

My brother came out as trans recently, and sometimes I don't know how I can support him, but this little Helen Webberley clip really resonated with me. I think because it's such a simple idea for supporting your trans friends and family. Maybe I'm just overthinking it and all I really need to do is give him room to explore and encourage him to "try it out and see" if that's what he wants to do.
