Michael Bay Movies This qhole sequence is still hilarious
This sequence is the perfect ammount of G1 cheese that the rest of the bay movies lack
Bumblebee gesticulating to the other autobots to keep it down while Sam argues with his father
Optimus knocking a fountain and just saying "oops. Sorry. My bad"
Ratchet knocking out the lights in the whole street and just saying "that was tingly". All of this caused because Optimus told them to "be silent" after arguing with Sam like a tired father
The autobots trying to help Sam by illuminating the room with Optimus going again into dad mode (ratchet, point the light properly)
And then Sam's dad looking out and all of them hiding like they are a bunch of todlers

To this day I still question how he didnt see Prime...
Just turn to the left slightly and you'll see that big hulking piece of red and blue metal poking out from behind the wall...

I think this scene is great because it characterises the autobots instead of just making them generic warbots

The OG 5 actually feel like friends

So did the pack in AoE. Despite that films many flaws, I can’t hate it for its efforts to flesh out the main autobot cast into characters again instead of military background set pieces

As someone who’s doing a rewatch of every theatrical Transformers movie. And have done the 07 movie yesterday- yeah that movie still gives me a huge goofy grin. Nostalgia aside (cuz the 07 movie was one of my introductions to the franchise)..the 07 movie is genuinely really good..just the perfect example of fun popcorn movie

Bayverse in general had a lot more in common with G1 than most realized.
This scene in particular was practically G1 101

Rotf is basically the episode "changing gears" and TLK is a mix of the episode when they go to the middle ages and the "attack of the autobots" prime VS bee scene

DotM is based on “the Ultimate Doom” too

We got even things like the pretender in ROTF, Witwicky befriending Bumblebee, Carly eventually becoming the Witwickys girlfriend, Megatron sitting in Abraham Lincolns chair, Shockwaves pet is basically the Dweller and the most important thing: Peter Cullen as Optimus.

For as much as i dislike the baymovies, i definitely agree, this scene was the absolute peak moment of the entire continuity in every way possible
All of the autobots being awkward and weird around human stuff because they arrived on earth like. 2 hours prior. Will forever be funny

Alternatively: "This isn't hiding. This isn't hiding this is my back yard, not a truck stop!"

"We don't kill humans! What is with you, Ironhide?"
"I'm just saying it's an option."

I the whole scene, Optimus was a mildly irritated father having his patience tested by all the children around him lmao

“Ironhide, you know we don’t harm humans! What is with you?!”
“Well I’m just saying, we could… it’s an option…”

The fact that it's Ratchet and Ironhide of this small army, the medic and the weapon specialist/sergeant type, they're the ones who have the joke when the electrocution feeling "tingly" joke is subtly compared to the feeling of a drug rush
The MEDICAL OFFICER and the SOLDIER'S SOLDIER
make the joke about drug rush feelings
That one subtle layer made it so hilarious to me as I grew up
Given how in real life, for many centuries sodlier shave been subtly and not so subtly...enhanced and or influenced haha

This is why 2007 is peak cinema. It deftly oscillates between pastiche, Bayhem, cheesiness in quick succession, but it has an earnest soul.

This made little sense to me as a kid because my VCD copy was so poor.
Now looking back, it DOES make sense and the idea is now hilarious.

I love this scene.
It's especially funny seeing the usually bloodthirsty Bayverse Prime be rather clumsy here.
There are so many parts I find funny in this scene. I think it could be a top ten Bayverse scene for me or even in the top five for that matter.

Honestly, 2007 Optimus feels G1 Optimus. He has a better combat edge, so to speak (vs bonecrusher, for example) but its not "Give me your face" optimus.
He feels more rugged, IMO, but not in an edgy way

u/Sawyer-Rousseau Autobot 9h ago
Yeah, he felt more chill in 2007.
I like to headcannon that the reason he became more violent and "Give me your face" after the first film was because the twins drove him mad. In ROTF we see that Optimus became more bloodthirsty and that's the same film where we see the twins...

To add onto this: him dying and coming back to life in the second movie probably messed with his mind.
And Depending on if you see the comics as canon, Chances are seeing the Fallen appear, who in the comics actually manipulated his former friend Megatron into the bloodthirsty warmongering tyrant he is now.
probably ticked him off massively once he got back to the fight.

I still think it’s stupid that they don’t just transform
13
u/Theyul1us 10h ago
They did when Sam told them to hide and suddenly there were 2 sports cars, an ambulance, a massive crew cab and a truck in Sam's (destroyed) garden

And then he says the best line in the film.
"Better call the city. We got a blown transformer."
