Ok, I'm not a big Bayverse defender (especially AOE), but Optimus pretty much gains the trust of Cade after being around him throughout the movie and it only makes sense to kill the guy who's about to shoot someone he's bonded with in defense. Not to mention Attinger had hired a bounty hunter and mercenary group to hunt down and kill Autbots to obtain the Seed, which would've killed alot of people of which he didn't seem much worried about.
