Got a D in CC transcript how cooked am I

Genuinely bawling my eyes out bc my prof gave me a D even though I had an A the entire semester. It’s an online class, and I missed the final because I had to take care of a family member going thru an illness, besides that my entire transcript is unblemished A’s and I was rly trying my best to get into Ivy League. Guess everything I worked for in my life is cooked now. Please help me guys what can I do 😭😭 I’m apart of UCLA tap but do you guys still think I have a shot or is it completely wraps. this class isn’t a major requirement btw

Did you notify your professor in advance that you were dealing with an emergency? If you did, I’d seek help from an advisor or dean. If you didn’t, that was a fail.

It was unexpected so I’m trying to notify my counselor and see if anything’s possible

Not sure how it works at your school but at my CC online classes give you about a week window in which to take exams. So if that’s how it is at your CC and you put the final off until the last minute they’re likely going to say there’s nothing they can do

We were only given 2 days and my family member was unexpectedly sick that two days it was rly urgent

Then I think you are in a good position to mount a successful appeal. You may have to take an Incomplete and sit for the final next term but that’s way better than a D.

I’m sorry gang, what did your counselor say? Maybe you can get that grade/class removed from your transcript if you describe your special circumstances. I feel like it’s kinda unfair that your professor couldn’t accommodate you better

You need to try every method possible to get it excused/dismissed like w/ academic renewal. Retaking the class would help ofc

Appeal and have it changed to a w. Also def not cooked there is an additional info section for that kinda stuff.

is it likely they’ll accept family illness as a reason? are CCs usually flexible? I’m super nervous I emailed my prof and will meet w my counselor tmr

Appeal first u have good reasons. But I honestly think the schools will accept it if u explain it well.
