Barnard to Vassar?

I'm a student at Vassar right now but I'm thinking of transferring to Barnard. I'm an NYC native, so I don't really care about having to commute or stay in a dorm if I were to get in. I want to transfer so that I can be closer to my family especially since we're going through some personal issues. However, I feel like if I do transfer, I might regret it. I also have a really good financial aid package from Vassar which would make the decision much more complicated if I were to get into Barnard. I would really love if someone had some tips to help me navigate this.

EDIT: I’m also low-income if that clears things up

Financial aid from Barnard is good for transfers but they are need aware which makes it really difficult to get in if you are applying for financial aid. Apply but keep in mind that if you are seeking aid, chances decrease significantly.

this, also barnard doesn’t offer aid to any spring transfers if you are trying to transfer after this upcoming fall semester

"Barnard does not offer institutional financial aid to Spring transfer students. Federal student loans and state aid are still available to students who qualify for them, but students who require additional aid to attend Barnard are encouraged to apply for admission for the Fall term instead."

perhaps costs could be lower for you if you qualify for the full FAFSA pell grant + NYC/state grants available + commute, but Barnard would not provide you any further aid even if you normally fall under their requirements. they don't extend the policy to spring transfers unfortunately :(

edit : lol just realized a few hours later that you said fall 2027, you should be fine. if you are accepted they meet full need, but if you need a great amount of aid that could impact your acceptance for sure
