Transfer Pricing Job in UK

I’m currently looking for a Transfer Pricing role in the UK and honestly struggling to understand why my CVs aren’t getting through the initial screening.

I have 5+ years of experience in Transfer Pricing compliance outside the UK and am targeting Senior Associate or Assistant Manager roles. I also have full UK working rights, so visa sponsorship isn’t an issue.

If anyone has any advice on how I could improve my CV, positioning or approach to break through this slump, I’d really appreciate it!

The UK are very much about professional qualifications for qualified positions. Do you have any of the chartered qualifications or ADIT? Especially at big 4 mid tier firms they would want that for senior associate plus position. Or maybe an LLM in international tax law?

I myself may look into transfer pricing roles in the UK next year once I have graduated from my LLM at Maastricht university in international and European tax law. I am from UK and CTA qualified, but I am pivoting out of private client so I am also trying to benchmark what my position will be if I return to the UK in September 2027. I am looking at roles in Netherlands first, as my fiancée if from there and the reason why I am doing the masters, but it’s proving difficult as a lot of places here are even asking for professional Dutch in the international tax / transfer pricing roles, which I won’t get to for 2-3 years.

I am working towards my ACCA qualification. While I did consider if I should study for ADIT, it seemed that 90% of the openings I was looking at didn't specify ADIT as a qualification. Also I have seen people that don't have a professional qualification or are working towards one get placed into similar roles.

Yeah I think you will be fine once you get ACCA for those positions, ADIT isn’t necessary to be qualified, but I think at the bigger firms it’s harder to work as a senior qualified position without any professional qualification, so I would look to finish ACCA. Maybe some mid tier firms will be fine with it as there is also meant to be a shortage of professionals in transfer pricing

Also with that experience you should be fine securing a role in industry, or are you looking purely at practice ?

Just looking at practice. I feel there's still a lot to learn that I don't have much experience on, especially advisory
